At 16 in 1975 I scraped together $250 to buy a 1955 De Soto Firedome. I had intended to remove the Hemi and use it in a newer car to be purchased later. However, the more I drove it, the more I fell in love with it. That was an awesome fun car to drive and work on. Now 65, I'm looking for another one.

Bison/Generals are some of the best looking trucks! 🛻. All GM trucks of that era looked great! I love a CAT BTW!

Oh it’s good to see a Bruin. This was an old triaxle dump truck with a 20,000 lb front axle. Chevy only manufactured heavy trucks from the 1969 Titan to around 1980 with the Bruin, Bison and Titan. The Kodiak medium truck continued to be manufactured until 20 years ago.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 I would agree that the body is in rough shape, but nothing that some good TLC wouldn’t handle. Rather looks good for the age. I sure hope it powers up & runs well for you….on the 2nd attempt. I know of a few old Detroits that had the ether can mounted on the rails. I can understand why now. Someone stated that they get used to ether. I’m not sure if I totally agree with that statement, but it has been sitting a while without being run. Who knows. Love the old trucks & sure remember this style back in the day. Love the old style dash myself. 🥰🤩✌️

Once you spray ether in these Detroits, they get ADDICTED TO IT.

It’s a 24 volt truck first off….. second off….. pull the damn valve covers off for the love of god and get the racks free. 3rd get your self a board of wood to snuff the engine off when it runs away due to your incompetence and also fill the air tanks so you have air to use the air shut off or better known for you brain dead wanna be truck mechanics the flapper aka blower shut down. Best of luck and let’s hope boss man fires your ass when you blow up the engine

I moved one flywheel exactly like the ones on this engine. The thing is a beast, and I wouldn't doubt it weighs 400 to 500 lbs. When that engine hits, it spins the flywheels like they're nothing.

I wonder how rare? I read in a 1994 Gas Engine Magazine comment they felt there were 26 known 12HP engines at that time - there could be more that have surfaced by now. There is only 1 that is a documented 14HP that I know of, they have the 14HP listed in the sales literature but it appears only 1 has surface. Production numbers show that only about 1% of the engines were 12HP. It is interesting that it appears to be the original paint without any pin striping evident. Also it appears there is evidence of gold paint on the ends of the Webster magneto.......I am cleaning up my mag and found traces of gold paint on them.
