I'm 6'5" and whenever I work under the dash of my 64 Falcon, I always take the seat out. Few fasteners and it's out. Much better than trying to be human origami!

@@binfordtools thank you, nothing beats a manual transmission in these ol rides (unless it's a big boat cruiser). I know Modern Drive line sell kits/ transmissions with all the correct parts (saves you time hunting things down). Might be a good place to start/get a quote from!

From one Ford home to a northern neighbor, "It's startin to look like sumthin!" I was never much of a fan of the Comet, but it is different, and you have peaked my interest. Thanks for that. Aren't fuel leaks fun! Wow
@Theoldcarchannel.
@Theoldcarchannel. 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah they're different, but I've always compared them to GTO's. Being a ford family we look at cars we like, gtos being one of them, and then look for comparables in the ford world since we have lots of ford parts. So the Comet check off all the boxes! And no, fuel leaks are not fun 😅 especially when you can hear it pouring on your floor! Haha

I'm only 5'8" and even I have problems getting under a dash. Problem ain't height, it's shoulder width. Foot wells aren't made for us big guys either. I gotta agree with Binfordtools, taking the seats out helps. But even still, the sound of open headers, sweet, sweet music.

That alloy piece on the rear of the gearbox. Where I come from we call it an extension housing. A tailshaft (propshaft) is the long tube that connects the gearbox to the differential. Has a Universal Joint (U Joint) each end. And the transmission, now thats a gearbox. Now you know how to speak strayan

Was that a brief power-outage while you worked? Is the green glass bottle with the hose-clamps for bleeding the brakes? That ride the camera took was great! XD Awesome to hear it run!
@Theoldcarchannel.
@Theoldcarchannel. 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, just a random power outage in the middle of a beautiful sunny day... never have had that happen before. I was going to try and use the green bottle as an over flow but wasn't happy with how I was going to mount it... and also not sure how well it would take a shock of hot antifreeze. Hahaha yeah a little roller coaster ride for the go pro, just glad it didn't drop! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the episode

Do you think it might improve cooling capacity if you built a shroud around the fan? (to prevent loss of negative pressure caused by the open sides)

Your thinking on the electric fan is wrong , good electric fans with shroud are very much more effective than a manual and you also loose the parasitic drag of the manual!
@Theoldcarchannel.
@Theoldcarchannel. 3 жыл бұрын
Let me know how good that electric fan is when it decides to die on you when you least expect it/ need it most. My concept is a safety net, there's nothing wrong with a mechanical fan, I ain't racing so I could care less about the power loss.
