1966 Ford 4000 Tractor Maintenance - Engine Oil Treatment & Hydraulic Oil

Hey everyone.
In this video I show you how I added densoflon oil treatment and hydraulic oil in my 1966 Ford 4000 tractor.
I've been looking on many forums to find where the oil level plug was located and, after some research I eventually found it.
I hope you find the video useful and if you want to do the same thing on a tractor like this, feel free to follow the steps shown in the video.
The maintenance work is getting better and better as we go along.
Thanks to all those of you who care for my content and appreciate my efforts to make such an iconic tractor last for as long as possible.

Hi Dave, great videos from you. I have also Ford 4000. Do you think I can use the www.mobil.com/en-us/commercial-vehicle-lube/pds/gl-xx-mobilfluid-424 also as the hydraulic oil as it is multipurpose oil? I saw that you use this as a transmission oil so I am just thinking if it can be more universal. Thank you.

Martin Hanula Thank you. I have used an universal hydraulic oil for my tractor. I noticed a difference in the viscosity of each type of oil. I think the Mobilfluid 424 it’s a great oil, and it is one that exceeds the Ford-M2C-134D requirement. However, since I haven’t used it in the hydraulics, I cannot tell you for sure whether if it’s suitable or not. Though I think it ain’t a big deal. After all, we’re talking about a multipurpose type of oil. I suggest you search more on this topic on tractor forums. You’ll definitely find some valuable information, from reliable sources.

That'Swiss ! Thanks. Yes, I took it from a car and mounted it on the Ford. That was way before I started the maintenance videos.

Thank you. I actually bought a set of Ford 4000 decals and a grill. But those didn’t fit properly since were made for the next model of 4000, the one that was released in 1972 and onwards. Mine is a 1966 model and so, I had to return those parts because I didn’t have no use for them.

Did you add hydro 46 oil for the hydrolic oil?

@@efexkaratas Hi. Well the truth is I haven’t really used it much in the winter, but even when I did, there wasn’t a problem with the hydraulic system. So, for me it worked, no problem.

How much oil does back end of tractor hold ford 4000 hold

Hi there. I do not recall the hydraulic oil capacity for the Ford. However if you want to top up some oil, just unscrew the oil level bolt shown in the video and fill it up until the oil comes out of that hole. When I added the oil, I put around 20L more or less. Thanks and I hope I helped you.
