I found this mustang hidden only 3 miles from my home. Abandoned and sinking in the ground. I know I can save it! #carrescue #barnfinds #oldcars #ford Music Credits: epidemic sound

I grew up with these guys….Steve and I were classmates. Brother Gordon (Flash) was a couple grades ahead of me. All good memories. I really enjoy seeing them together on these videos….

I wish we could do more video’s together. Bob is still working at 74 years old and flash has a new girlfriend and has no time for old cars at this time. I admit my videos do better when they are in them. People like to see brothers interact, I think it brings back memories of them and their brothers working together. Thanks for watching.

Thank you. Finally someone pressure washes thier car before working on it. I have watched dozens of car restorations and you so far are the only who washed thier car before pulling it in the garage.

Oh really? lol, I wash them when possible depending on the weather. Thank you for watching sir.

Not a original V8. It’s a 6 cylinder to V8 swap . You can tell by the 4 lug wheels . You will need to change the suspension to hold the weight , or else you’ll have busted spindles often .
@johnfranklin52775 ай бұрын
Yup. And it will never be worth as much as an original v8 car.

Besides your brothers comments , I have had many Fords that always ran excellent for years and find their engines to be more dependable than any LS !!
@DEADCARRESCUE5 ай бұрын
Funny you mentioned that. Today we all got together and watched that video. When Gordon said that Fix or repair daily thing I froze the video. I said Flash you gotta be careful with your comments about car brands and no talking politics. My brother is a real ford man and always bought fords. Me on the other hand always like Chevys. But if it’s mine I don’t care what brand it is.
@CAROLDDISCOVER-FINDER25254 ай бұрын
I'd have to disagree with that. I've had good luck with both ford and Chevy. I've never seen another engine 600,000 -800,000 like the earlier LS did. Technically they're LT engines because they were in trucks. I do like a good Ford 460 engine.

@@CAROLDDISCOVER-FINDER2525 My 67 289 - wrapped several times, original motor, never rebuilt (though smoking a bit!) - still runs, swapped for a built 302 while i rebuild it but imo nothing beats a 289 in V8 dress.
@CAROLDDISCOVER-FINDER25253 ай бұрын
@@LypheusX yeah that 289 is a good engine. Back in the day we were all too busy yanking them out and putting in 351. On the Chevy side of things were throwing in 327 and Big blocks.

I've got a great story of how we picked up the car. But I've got a 66 Ford mustang ragtop. Mechanic car my wife always wanted. Anyway it has the original 200 CID 6 cylinder and automatic. It runs and drives. But I'm probably going to put a 302 in it. Will definitely update to 5 lug and put disc brakes on it. But then I've got 200 six-cylinder with the automatic for a 1980 fish Ford Fairmont station wagon. Antonym been sitting in my shop 425 years. But it ran when the car. I don't know if it's a dash fire from cigarettes or if it was from the wiring. It was Rice krispie from dash on back. But I can start the engine from under the hood after that. We never did use the engine for what we intended to

...one more thing: 6 cyl Mustangs have 4 lug wheels where as V8 Mustangs have 5 lug. In other words, the rear end is not as strong as the 8" or 9" rears, and the front spindles and bearings are much smaller than V8 ones. I like your videos, and your personality. I could easily be right there with you guys, messing around with these cars.

I can appreciate the styling that the first generation Mustangs offers … but, in my honest opinion, most of the standard trim level package cars are overrated and overpriced as a collector car. They share the underpinnings with the Falcon which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but is definitely nothing to get all that excited about. They made tons of them and they are just not all that rare today. Same with the Maverick and Comet 2 doors, which also seem to be commanding (at least asking) prices that are far too often unreasonable. If you want one, I can understand why, but just don’t overpay for a car that doesn’t have something really special going for it; nor, a restorable car.
@DEADCARRESCUE21 күн бұрын
Both cars were cheap and less than 30 miles from me. I buy the older stuff for the videos on my KZfaq channel. These cars are great entry level cars if you’re on a budget.

Here in Southern California a rust free Mustang 1964 to 1968, in very good shape is around 20.000. In near mint close to 30. A car in poor condition but rust free, and restorable is around 5000. I have a 68 Mustang I bought in 1977, while in High school. 289 V8, automatic, factory AC, power steering, turn signal indicators in the hood, Diamond blue with 2 tone blue interior. Is in very near mint condition, and I frequently gets asked if its for sale. I always say no, but people still start throwing money offers at me. At a car show a few years ago a lady wanted it bad, and offered 20.000 for it. its worth more, but fact is its NOT FOR SALE. . I drove it home lol.

Why would someone take the time to swap a straight 6 with a V8 and not do it right? All the drive train and suspension needs changed to accomodate a V8. The 7 inch rear end will never hold up to a V8. Half ass work.
@DEADCARRESCUE5 ай бұрын
It’s been done for years. I bought it this way but I’ve done many 6 to v8 swaps the same way.
@Deucealive755 ай бұрын
@@DEADCARRESCUE The swap I did back in the early 80's held up. It got a strong running 289. I told my friend we could get an 8 inch out of any junkyard for it but he didn't want it. He beat the hell out of it with the 6 cyl rear end. The people who have the car now still have it in there. And the C4 I went through during the swap held up as well. It got all new soft parts. The funny thing about it was I pulled the small bell torque converter out of the mud at the junkyard, washed it out and used it. haha. For the V8 swap on my 66 I got an 8 inch for it with 3.50:1 gearing. Fun car with the top loader 4spd. The 7 inch rear end would be a concern with a 300 HP small block and manual trans. Not with a stock V8 and an auto trans.
