This is one of my favorite guitars, the '69 Strat. I can only guess the astronomical price Norm wants for this. $15-18k I'm guessing.

You can get a fender custom shop 69 strat for around 4k and it'll be way better.

That ‘69 strat tone so distinctive……different from a ‘63 or ‘59

The lower output (less midrange) pickups handle gain better.

@@rjo8500 Can really hear Hendrix’s tone in that ‘69. Never noticed it so much before. Actually prefer it over the earlier over the 59 to 63 tone. Wonder if the 67’s 68’s and 69’s were the same tonally meaning same pickup design ?

@@bwhit716 There’s a chart somewhere online from Fender with all the factory windings. I clearly remember 1958 and 1963 being the most wound which would attribute to more midrange. I think that’s why Blues players chase those years because plugged straight in to a Fender amp you would want more midrange coming from the guitar. I believe the mid 1960’s with the popularity of Surf music things became cleaner so hence less windings. A cheaper alternative to the gray bottom ‘69 pickups would be the patented pickups Fender produced in the late 70’s possibly even into the early 80’s. I had a set years ago I threw in a ‘87 Strat and they were bright and clean. With that said the current Fender CS ‘69 pickups are just as good.
