On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago IL on 7-5-21.
We're looking at a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 in Orange Paint. The car comes with the 428 CI V8 “Cobra Jet” engine and manual 4 speed transmission.
The car's Owner is Dennis Gonio. Dennis’s had this car since 2001. Dennis shared at 15 years old at a car show, he seen a 1969 Mustang Mach 1, and knew that would be the right car for him. Good news! He stayed focused and ended up purchasing his “dream car”.
ENJOY!

Great way to start the day off to see this beauty. Ford really was way ahead of the game with the introduction of the Mustang in the 1960's and further development of it like this particular model. Nice to see you were able to track down Dennis so he could proudly show off this baby. Finally, you are a real class act Lou. Always polite to each owner and adding great commentary and insight for your viewers. Keep up the great videos and have a good day.

One of my all time favorites. It's only fitting that these Mach 1s have the best rear deck & back ends in the auto world, because w/the 428, that's the only view most other cars will see... Thanks for finding and sharing Dennis & his Mach 1 with us, Lou!

OMG - I drove one of these when I was 16 - I had a 1969 Datsun Truck - That Mustang scared me so bad I didn't go to fourth ... and when I let off, the header mufflers rocked the floorboards & scared me more > >

Yes they had a certain sound and feel to them, the hi-po ones - that they seem a little fearful sounding is not an uncommon reaction people had to these cars. 351C could sound like a terror too. Your comment reminded me of that.

Had a buddy back in the early 70’s who drive one of these. His was a 1969 Mach 1, 428 CJ, 4 sp also with the Ram air. Helped him work on it many times. Changing the plugs was a real adventure for sure. We swapped the stock cast iron intake manifold for an aluminum police version and it took both of us to lift that manifold off the car. I believe it weighed about 100 lbs. The front of the car actually sat 1/2”-3/4” higher after the swap!

The 69 Machs are my fav Mustang. Working on those with the BB engines are a 'real treat' though. These were some of the 1st US cars with the A.I.R. system on it, Cali state emissions. The Magnum 500 wheels really complete these cars, you can see the stock rally type steel wheel as the spare. The 4 speed cars had heel/toe gas pedals which was a Shelby idea. I had the chance to buy my cousin's Raven Black 69 Mach 1 351 auto in 2007, but I had nowhere to store it. I still wish I would've and just found a way to keep it. The people that did buy it, just flipped it for profit shortly after. This example is super nice! Enjoy it!

I always wondered how many model years had 4 headlights. Great car. My neighbor has the retro version of what I believe to be this car from about 10 years ago. A very nice retro car, but not nearly as appealing as this one

This Mustang can’t decide if it wants to be a Mach 1 or a Boss! It’s has the headlight bucket and taillight panel black out and Magnum 500 wheels from a Boss 302. These panels should all be body color on a Mach 1, only the hood and cowl should be blacked out. It also should have the Styled steel wheels, not Magnums. A good looking Mustang but a bit of a mish mash of 1969 styling cues by the owner.

This Mach I has a lot of Boss 302 accents; the black headlight buckets, black deck lid behind the louvers, black rear panel. But I did the same thing on the car I had in the late 1970s (White 351-4V with standard hood scoop and, unfortunately, automatic trans. Also, 7 years of midwestern rust. But, only cost $600 !)

@@luisvelasco316 I’m just saying to me Ford made it perfect on the Mach 1 and boss 429 in 69. In seventy the boss 302 was magnificent then the Mach 1 was still good looking I’m just stating facts
