One of my absolute favorite instruments of all time is the Wurlitzer 200, I love its sound so much. I also love the sound of 1960's guitar amps, and the Vibrolux is one of my favorite ones that I own. So what will happen if I run the Wurlitzer 200 through the Vibrolux, and add a bit of the Vibrolux's gorgeous spring reverb to the mix? Let's find out!

That’s a great tune James. I can hear myself playing drums to that in a seventies vibe. I can see the rest of the instruments like drums, bass and guitar, maybe even Hammond organ in my head. It’s not a throw away tune, you wrote a great piece, keep it

Every time I hear this instrument, I cry so much I am moved. This sound is unique. What a pity that this is no longer manufactured!

One of the coolest things about electric pianos is how you can send the signal thru guitar effect pedals and really really sculpt their sound, just like with an electric guitar

Loved the song and the name if a perfect fit for it. I could image the rain drops hitting when listening to the treble in the song and it sound really good with the amps. I know its about the instrument and amps but the song was my fav...just like summer rains, gentle slowing, then the increase as a cell goes by.. you caught it wonderfully. I did love the sound of the Wurlitzer too.

Great instrument. Really smooth sound. I'm learning the piano and it would be a joy to get a transcription of what you play here as piano sheet. I loved it. Really nice and soothing impro. Great channel :)

I’ve played them through a fender twin reverb, but they sound even better through a Leslie 147 on slow speed👌

As for EPs, I still prefer that Rhodes tone; however there are instances where the Wurli is a better fit ... I don't think "The Logical Song," one of my all time favorite songs, would sound as good on a Rhodes for example. Keep up the good work!

I'm with the other commenters: beautiful sound from a fantastic combo and a really mellow and inspiring melody! Great writing, indeed! Keep it up! I love the name of the song, very appropriate, but somehow it reminded me of a dandelion floating in the wind... "Dance of the Dandelion" looks like a cool name as well... Cheers!

You could write music for video game soundtracks. Absolutely beautiful piece, it really does remind me of some of the very best video game soundtracks I’ve ever heard, such as Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda. Thank you for sharing your art with us. :)

Creating music for the instrument! That's cool that you have that in mind when writing music! Fun fact, Duke Ellington had a Wurlitzer Piano in his bedroom or sometimes carried to his hotel rooms for practice or writing music.

Nice job James! Too bad about the copyright issue. Blockers miss the point, that when music is played and discussed, it stays relevant. Otherwise, it just fades away... Maybe you can add a bit of Liberace flare with some dancing hands, fills, and runs. As Liberace said "To much of a good thing - is wonderful".

I played a 200 in my college band. To tune the reeds you had to carefully file off some solder to bring the pitch up. If a reed broke on a gig I would karate chop the key to quickly bend the reed out of the harp pickup. Funky through a wah wah pedal.

didn't you play Clair De Lune on it once? or was it you played that song on a 200 tone generated in a keyboard bank? It was really beautiful when you played the center part of De Lune. Some other songs that would sound great on it would be la fille aux Cheveux de lin, Arabesque No. 1, or Ballade. I say this because the song you made for the Wurlitzer reminds me a lot of Claude's work.

Amazing tone! I was not expecting to be impressed and that I would not listen all the way through but guess what? I was thoroughly impressed by the tone of the Wurlitzer/Fender amp combination and the piece. As the man in the "Great Balls of Fire" film said about one of Jerry Lee Lewis' records, "I can sell that!" And...I do think that some Impressionist era music could sound good on this instrument. Not all, of course but some Debussy, Ravel and Satie, for example. Actually, anything that is not too fast or thick. Something melodic that allows for long tones to be heard. Schumann: Träumerei, for example.

James, how does the action feel?
@ThePianoforever
@ThePianoforever 4 жыл бұрын
It's... different. A bit unlike anything else I've played. It has an incredibly light feel, almost like you'd find on a digital piano but of course it has a more mechanical feel to it as well. The action is reminiscent of a simplified piano action. Interestingly it also gets slightly heavier towards the back of the key, like you'd find on a digital piano.

Does he seriously not hit a note on the keyboard without the amp despite spending several minutes talking about how the keyboard sounds?? I’m a few minutes in and this is getting painful Edit: music is amazing, was worth the wait, still wish I heard a bit without the amp though
