1974 Lincoln Continental Mark IV and Town Car commercial

The new styling and front and rear bumpers really made the Town Car look large. The Mark IV at this point began to outsell the Eldorado. The Continental edged out the Eldorado in sales in 1972 and again in 1973, but by 1974, the Mark really moved ahead partly due to the better gas mileage, it was well reported at the time in the media how bad the gas mileage was for the Eldorado, it and the Toronado were the two worst cars for gas consumption in this time perild

5 years ago i learned about the Lincoln Continental and 3 months ago I finally bought one i own a 1972 Lincoln Continental mark iv i am the second owner and its all original with no rust💯the best car in the world hands down

Prepare yourself to be spoiled. I fell in love with the Continental Mark IV in the 1970's and finally bought one in Cape Coral, Florida in 2002 and shipped it home. It has a lot to offer and I cannot see myself replacing it with anything else.

My friend’s dad had one of these, and I got to drive it once. This was in 1993. This boat dwarfed the size of my own car at the time. I’ll admit the ride was as comfortable as sitting at home on a couch. But honestly the Continental was rightly named - it was indeed as big as a continent! And about as maneuverable.

Parts of this were totally filmed in anza borrego / imperial valley. Bummed i had to sell my 73 mk4 😢, it was just a liability 🪠💸🚽

I have a 73 Mark IV and I have to say it is well ahead of it's time with all the more modern features it has. Incredibly nice to drive too. Just wish it got more than 10mpg lol

What modern features are they? I didn't think they offered anything more than anyone else? it's not like it has ABS or computer controls or technical features of the cars of today?

@@OsbornTramain they didn’t sell as much as a lot of other cars. But they did sell a lot but they weren’t the most common car.

So Comfortable going down the road. $8000 ! That's a drop in the Bucket today. That will pay for the Options 😂.

Not to be obvious, but inflation makes that $50k in today money. Average salary was $7300.

H2O A lot of water (H2O) has run under the bridge since, but the cars still run smoothly.
