For a size US large in women's, I used a 6mm hook and 1,200 yards of Yarn Bee " Ethereal Eyelash" yarn , which is labeled as a 5 weight, but it's more of a heavy #4 worsted weight ( Aran Weight)
I used a 5mm hook for the sleeve cuffs and the ribbed hem

Hot tip I discovered the other day for bulky knots! Just cut the yarn and treat it like you’re starting a new color pulling the new strand through the last loop/s of the stitch. Then either work over the tails or weave them in later! I swear by magic knots, but was working with a bulky blanket yarn the other day, and the magic knot was just SOOOOO obvious and ugly! Fortunately your yarn is so fuzzy that your knot pretty much disappeared, even if you can still feel it!

Great pattern! I personally would not have added a hood either but I would seriously consider adding a stand up collar rather than leaving the neck area plain. Might even consider using the same contrasting color that was used on the pockets.

I actually made two of these jackets , in women`s size, back then. I still have them. Made with Red Heart. They are actually quite heavy and warm. Have been crocheting for 60 years.
