I don't know why there isn't some sort of international enquiry convened to look into this issue where it is now perfectly provable that athletes won medals by cheating, and they should be stripped of their titles (they can keep the medals, who gives a shit) and the record books should show, for the rest of time, the names of the athletes who really deserved their results.

Marita Koch - Greatest female sprinter of all time, set many WR's from 50m - 400m. No one has EVER had such a range, doped up or not. You need, speed, power, and endurance for such a range. Many world record breaking athletes only have speed and power, speed and endurance or power and endurance. Eg, Michael Johnson was crap at 100 and 150 metres because he just didn't have the speed. Bolt couldn't run 400 because he didn't have the endurance. Marita is/was truly unique.

West European athletes had no chance against the drug fuelled Eastern Bloc athletes of the day! It must have been very disheartening trying to compete on a level playing field!

It's pretty clear that the Eastern bloc were doping up their female ahletes to the nines, even as far back a the 1950s doping was going on. Watching these athletes as a kid I marvelled at how great they were. As an adult I realised why they were so 'great'. I really feel for those who missed out on medals or better medals,the likes of Kathy Cook (nee Smallwood) deserved far better

I dont care whether they took drugs or not..bcoz i personally (no proof) think everybody was/is. However the athletes in the 80s are so much loved by the world, media, commentators. They hv charisma and character - koch, gohr, kratochvilova, ashford, lewis, woronin, wells, mennea etc - u name it. Athletic at that era is at its pinnacle. I dont know why current athletes is so forgettable (except for only a few). They're much LESS MUSCULAR than current athlets. Yeah.yeah.better training

If every athlete was clean, Marita would STILL have been streets ahead of everyone else. People close their eyes to their own country's drug use. So just stfu and appreciate the sight of a once in a lifetime athlete.
