Marcus Allen and the Raiders take on Curt Warner and the Seahawks in the AFC Title Game. Seattle swept the Raiders during the year, but this game would turn out to be a different story.

Not only that Chris, but the Raiders as a collective team! In that era, they always seemed to raise their game to another level during the playoffs! And '83 was no different! When completely healthy, the Raiders could beat anyone anytime anywhere! Still to this day blows me away that of the 20 greatest SB champions ranked by the America's Game series, this Raiders squad was rated the lowest of those 20! That ranking is a travesty! The way that Raiders team controlled both sides of the line of scrimmage at the end of that season, to me, their '83 squad maybe one of the 10 best one-season teams in NFL history! That team doesn't get the credit they fully deserve and for that matter neither does Marcus Allen! The fact that he was only ranked #85 of the 100 Greatest Players Ever on NFL Network shows how little those who voted value opinion! Allen hands down was not only the best inside-the-20 RB of all-time, he should have at least been rated in the Top 40 overall! #85 is just asinine!

As the clock hit zero, NOBODY had left the game (out of character for LA crowds back then). What ensued was entertaining chaos involving LAPD in riot gear and on horseback trying to keep the crowd from tearing down the goalposts. Tackles made after the game by Event Staff rivaled that which occurred during it. Lol

Has any RB in NFL history ever had three games in the postseason like Marcus Allen had in January of 1984?? 121- yards /2TD against Pittsburgh,154Rush/62 Recand 1TD - Seattle and 191 and 2 TD in Super Bowl against Washington. Incredible performance!!!!!!! Sadly the Raiders haven’t won a Super Bowl in 40 years. Just heard Dave Kreig on the Mark Ryan Radio Program 12-27-2023 recounting the win over Miami on the road one week earlier. Didn’t hear him say he was pulled in the Raider game??

I was 17 , jumped on Mike Haynes back for about 20 yards after the game, on the field was crazy, best game I ever went to! Still have My ticket!

People forget about all time great defenses, this Raider team in 1983 had two of the best cornerbacks in the league, a ferocious defensive line, they can stop the run, great Lbs, they didn't have any weaknesses. It's one of the best defensive teams I have seen, they destroyed teams in that playoff run

I was there as a kid. A lot of us Rush the field we pulled one goal post down. As they rushed towards the second goal post a number of cops with long billy clubs came out of the tunnel and stopped the crowd. What a crazy day.

I watched this game in the rec room, B-4-2, SatCom school on Fort Gordon, GA. I remember thinking to myself that Dave Krieg ain't no Jim Zorn. Also the raiders OL didn't get away with holding, they got away with tackling. Still....Raiders won this game outright and fairly. Flores Hayes and Plunkett should all be in the HOF.

I remember this day since the raiders did not sell out that day it was blacked out in la area could you imagine a playoff game blacked out in Los Angeles that's how it was back in those days thanks for bringing back some memories 👍👍

No, they lifted the blackout. I saw the game live here in LA and was loving it.

I was so bummed from the earlier game where the 49ers got ripped off by HORRIBLE officiating in Washington. I knew the Raiders would smoke the Redskins in SB 18 and they did. This Raider team was awesome.

I’ve never seen a cornerback as big as Lester, the guy was huge and how in the world was that passing interference at 5:56. This is textbook defense for a cornerback.

I'm a Seahawks fan and was in 7th grade when this was played. I made a bet with a friend for $2 for the Seahawks to win. If any Seahawks player reads this you owe me $2. Not that I hold grudges.

I remember the last 4 games that year. They beat the Chargers 30-14 the last game of the year, the beat Pittsburgh 38-10 in the first playoff game, then this game they also won 30-14, and the won the Superbowl 38-9. Only a blocked extra point kept these last 4 game scores from being balanced. Damn you Don Hasselbeck!

Difficult to beat a great team 3 times in the same season. My goodness how good Merlen Olsen was as a "Color Commentator!" This was rough and tumble football before Lawrence Taylor.
