What an awesome matchup between two super talented and smooth players. Two of the best looking backhands to be sure. Mary Carillo has said Hana and Bettina were two of her very favorite players to watch.

Bunge's strokes were appealing to look at, but in practical terms, her takebacks were too long and complicated. If she is robbed for time, she mishits many shots.

This was the first of three streaks wins of Czech’s team since 1975’s Aix-en-Provence with Navratilova and Tomanova. This streak ends in 1986 at home with Navratilova’s and Evert’s comeback...

Does anyone know what happened to Bunge? She seemed fine during the match. Odd.

After this match she wouldn't play for about 6 months. She had heavy surgery.

@@hanamandlikovastennis7724 yes she had surgery. I used to hit with her in 87 and 88 at the University of Miami courts. She hit the ball really well. I was on the swim team and had more endurance then her but she hit the ball cleaner and could place the ball anywhere.
