Uxwbill drives a very clean and VERY low mileage 1984 Chevrolet Caprice Classic coupe for your viewing pleasure. I don't CARE if I sound like a giddy kid in this video. For the first time in my life, I think I might well have been in love. With a car.
No, I'm not going to even pretend that I can justify it. Just watch the video. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did making it! :-)
Oh. Yeah. No domestic vs. import flames here, please and thank you.
Update, early 2013: This video was up for more than a YEAR (almost two!) before it got a SINGLE downvote. Were I in charge of an automaker, I'd take that to mean something.
Per its VIN, this car was assembled in Linden, NJ. It has the "H" type 5.0 liter (305 CID) V8 engine with a four barrel carburetor. This is known as the GM "LG4" engine.

I also grew up in the 80's and miss these good old American cars. My dad had a few big 70's Pontiac Catalinas and a 1984 Olds Delta 88 Royale Brougham edition. The cousin of the the Chevy Classic Caprice. What a great video. I truly miss these cars.

When I was about 15 years old or so,my grandmother bought one of these brand spanking new- 4 door with two tone brown with the same enhine you have here- 305 chevy V8 with a 4 barrel carb, and as for regular maintenance ie; oil changes, new tires, brakes, belts and hoses, She traded it in on a 1984 Pontiac Grand Prix. I know from first hand experience that those are EXCELLET cart and if you can find one in EXCELLENT shape, then you have a WONDERFUL car.. as long as air bag suspension and funky paint jobs are not done to it- I HIGHLY reccomend that you keep it ALL origional,

This car reminds me of the 1984 Buick LeSabre we have. I always liked how much room was in the trunk so you could haul big items. I remember when we bought it used in the early 90s it had a CB where the ash tray was and also had a radar detector with AM/FM tape stereo. The car also had fog lights and some clear headlight covers. I remember some trucker on the CB saying the headlights looked cracked but the cover broke due to some rocks hitting them.

This is a very clean car and in great condition for it age. I own a 81 caprice 4 door sedan, same color as your wagon and love it. I like the way they look, the way they ride, everything about them. I hope who ever got this car continues to keep it in this condition and doesn't put it on 30 inch wheels.

It was amazing. I don't know that I will ever see another one like it. Indeed I do hope that whoever ended up owning it respected what a treasure this car truly is and they didn't do stupid things to it. I'd love to own a "box" Caprice sedan and a wagon, and someday I will. They're great cars. If only one could buy cars like that today: simple, big, good looking, comfortable, and reliable. I love my Caprice wagon!

Awesome! My first car at age 16 was a 1984 4-door Chevy Caprice. The cruise control knob, and the power seat control really bring me back. Lousy power, but it was a truly great "road sofa".

Great Video Brings Back Memories!!..I'm 29 and our family drove a 1985 4 Door Caprice For years and it was the first car I had passed down to me when I learned to drive. We took many road trips in it when I was a kid. It was Very Reliable! We sadly sold it back in 2001 still working just fine with 3 collisions, floors rusting out from mid-west winters and over 255K on it! Today we quit buying from GM though sorry to say as we have had nothing but trouble with their newer cars.

I also had just bought a 1984 dodge charger 2.2 turbo with my advance pay. On subs they give you 3 months pay as you can not spend money under the ocean for 3 months . I bought it new . Glad to see that nice car still on the road.

I never thought I would actually see a Caprice in such beautful condition. I haven't seen one where I am in years, and it wasn't in such good shape. Kinda sad to know the younger generation of which I am part of never genuinely get to experience cars like this. And as for the foreign cars, I don't hate them, but give me an old land yacht any day!

@@eaa0903 throw a video of a walk around of your car. If it doesn’t bother you, you can tell about what you noticed and what you like/dislike , what you are wanting/need to do,and do a test drive, and mount the camera for the drive, or if you want a look around, while you drive, get someone to run the camera while you drive, and talk. Bonus if you get someone to run the camera, then you can do some drive by shots, don’t forget to place the camera on the ground and drive over it slowly where the bottom can be viewed, especially if it’s a clean all around it, and you take care of the old girl, and she will take care of you, hopefully. I have an 06 Impala SS. I wonder if that applies to it, sometimes? Don’t let peoples criticisms make you not do what makes you feel good.

I grew up when these things were pretty much gone, but my Grandmother had a 1988-1991 Mercury Grand Marquis. They took great care of it! The only problem was a dot of rust by the tail-lights and the rear windows wouldn't roll down (my Grandparents never got around to fixing them). Before that she had a Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park. P.S My Grandfather had a 1986 Nissan Pulsar NX (poor little thing rusted to death).

My mind is at ease when I see that. Ever since five, I've wanted to have just that, but as a wagon. Never wavered on that, my dream car. Even love learning English, just because of my love for that car and the 80s era of American life style. I too am waiting for that car, never felt rich enough to buy it as I'd have to pay for a mechanic, fixing it is beyond my comprehension. I should've bought one when I had the money saved for it, even for two months would have been a paradise. Well, now I have motivation to save money for something again, thanks. I'd buy a broken one even if it was just to spend time in and drive only around my parking lot. That's how much I love those.

Wow, that car is beautiful! My first car was a 1978 Chevrolet Impala. 70's green exterior, and, well, green interior. 305 Small block V8, 2bbl. Super reliable car Really too bad you don't have the funds to buy that car, it's such a nice example and it would be sad to see it be butchered up and modified as happens to many of these. Sounds great!

I didn't know they made these in New Jersey. My 1985 Caprice and 1981 Bonneville were both made in Fairfax Kansas. I wonder why the front end wanders? Neither of mine do that. Believe me, If I had money to spare and space, I myself would have looked into this car. It looks really good in the video. And a green one makes it even more likeable(My 1985 is light blue with the dark blue interior and vinyl top. I am glad you got the chance to experience one of these. I feel like you every time I drive either one of mine. Well, when summer comes. LOL.

I grew up with one of these. My aunt drove me around in it all the time while running errands. Never appreciated the car because: A) it was almost totally reliable, and B) like the guy said in the video, you saw these everywhere. 2-door, 4-door, wagons. Absolutely everywhere.

This Is An Amazing Car! I loved this video! Caprices like this are my FAVOURITE car and the Old Impalas with the same square tail lights. I have always dreamed of Owning one of these some day. My grandparents had a silver Impala and a brown Caprice when i was a kid, and i loved them! So comfortable and roomy, luxary, ashtrays everywhere... Just amazing. The 2 door models like this one are more rare, But i tend to like the 4 door models better. (hate having to get out to let person in back out)

My grandpa used to have the Cutlass Supreme version of this exact car, and they traded it in for a Grand Am coupe right before I was born. I've seen pictures of the interior of that car. It was *nice*. I still don't have my license, but if I did, I'd appreciate a car like this! It sure isn't a chick magnet by any stretch, but it's a beautiful car! I certainly wouldn't turn a car like this into your friendly stoplight earthquake generator, but I'd have to have that radio fixed, though! ;)

FWIW, the approximate base price of the 1982 2 door coupe was 7500 dollars according to my 1982 new car guide. My guess is it was close in 1984. I remember growing up these cars were everywhere. My uncle had a 1988 wagon with a 305. It was a decent car from what I remember, I drove it a few times, and have many fond memories of it. It was often used to tow a pop up camper, now a days no one tows with a car, everyone thinks you need an "suv" to tow. The wagon had more room than most suv's.

A 1984 model would've been exempt from CFC, no? I believe the cutoff was '85. And I can relate to your giddiness, because I felt much the same way when I first drove a classic W123 series Mercedes-Benz Diesel. That's another car to put on your test-drive list if you ever come across one -- "bank vault on wheels" is the best description of how it feels to drive and ride in one. Anyway, I've only known the Caprice from well-worn taxicabs, but I'm sure this one is a much nicer ride!

Wow if I lived anywhere near you, I'd be jumping all over that thing in a heartbeat. I own a similarly clean 1985 4 door but what I really want is a pristine 2 door example such as that. These cars are getting rarer and more valuable, unfortunately. I bet you they'll get what they're asking. I saw a similar 2 door in my area and the guy wanted 8,000.

Nice color combo. I was looking a picking up an '81 two door, but the owner scrapped it instead. He wanted the money "right now". I guess the time it would take me to get home and get the $400 was to long to wait.....

+Steve W No kidding! This is *totally* the kind of car I'd love to buy new...oh well. This is probably as close as anyone could have come. There are probably younger ones out there, though I'll bet they've all landed in the hands of collectors and such. I later bought a '93 Caprice wagon and absolutely love it!

Bill that car has your name on it! Get one of those Obamaloans to buy it. Those were nice driving cars, I had driven a couple similar year Caprice's at my first job. I like that somewhat rare 2 door body too. My guess is that's an aftermarket "Delco look-alike" radio. Most likely a dealer installed kit, since they could make more $ that way. BTW I like your big garage, I want one! I outgrew my 2 car garage 20 years ago.
