Mid 80s with Mark Goodman in the studio when Big Bam Boom was on the charts, although a lot of the questions were "When are you coming to my city" and a lot of FAQ type stuff.

Wow this is so cool to see..I prefer John’s personality more. Very charismatic, warm and subtle. He seems very aware and intelligent out of the bunch. I wish I were alive during this time!

I own every Hall & Oates album and remember watching this in 1984. Wow, what a train wreck. My favorite question is the one addressed to "Don". I'm sure the caller didn't really think he was talking to The Everly Brothers but it was still funny.

Little did anyone know that this was the beginning of their decline as the music was changing to the new sounds by Prince, Madonna, Bon Jovi, Cyndi Lauper, Huey Lewis, etc.

It wasn't a decline, they just stopped recording new music as a duo for four years. Coming back is hard, even if the two albums they made with Arista (OOH YEAH! (1988) and CHANGE OF SEASON (1990)) were among their best. Besides that, I personally blame Frank Farian for singlehandededly destroying the whole trend of well done melodic music in the eighties.
