Here's something I videotaped back on the 17th of August, 1984 and thought I'd better digitize before the tape degraded...and then thought that there might be some Reds/Rose fans that would appreciate watching it on KZfaq.

Mario Soto was my favorite player! Not only did I liked his pitching but he inspired me to learn Spanish. I remember when the late Joe Nuxall would interview Mario on his post game show. At the end of the conversation Mario would say something in Spanish from there I developed my passion to speak Spanish. Muchas Gracias Mario!

Ichiro had that kind of inspiration on me too, so I took Japanese as a foreign language elective in high school. AP Physics was like P.E. compared to learning that language. I was so overwhelmed & frustrated that on a day we had a pop quiz, I answered every question, thinking I wrote "Ask Ichiro" in Japanese. I didn't know I actually wrote "Ichiro speaks through us" as if he were God or something. The only success I had in that class was convincing the teacher I wasnt crazy from that day on.

I have always been a Pete Rose fan. I started buying baseball cards when I was 11 years old in 1970 and I was super thrilled to get his card and I still have it as well as the complete 1970 set. And that set also reflects the 1969 Mets world series champions. Rose was one of the best and hardest working players of the game and definitely deserves to be in the HOF. God bless Rose and God bless America. Baseball, apple pie and Chevrolet.

Steve Stone had won the 1980 Cy Young award having that super year for Baltimore..its too bad that he retired early...he could have easily still been on Baltimore Pitching staff in 1983..when they beat the Phillies but Mike Bodicker's superb pitching shined in that series.

If Pete Rose never came back to Cincy, he'd be pardoned long ago & ultimately in the Hall of Fame. He signed on as a player-manager, & the first bet he made while in position of power, put him in the current situation he's at today. And the fact Lou Piniella took over the roster that Rose had, & went wire to wire & won the WS the year after the Rose ban, is more of an indictment on Rose. Kind of like Harper when the Nats won the year after he left.

if they ever make a movie about Pete Rose they should get Gargamel from the Smurfs to play Pete.

Harry Caray at 15:07 "...out-of-town writers are from everywhere." Just rubbed me in a funny way. Isn't that why they're "out-of-town" writers? You gotta love Harry! :-)

One hair on a pimple of Pete roses backside is double the worth to baseball as the whole bodies of those two rejects who were absurdly made baseball commissioner Fart Giamatti and Fay (what a name) Vincent
