The game that cost us, Everton, the title. IMHO

not IMHO, it just did. We had the chance to make amends but against a team fighting for its life. Liverpool played an on the beach Leicester. I so don't miss them

The next game against Oxford was the one,Lineker missed a hat trick of chances, and then they do us by the odd goal, taking nothing away from Liverpool, who put in a superhuman effort, but the blues really did throw the double away that season

There was a defeat at Luton as well towards the end of the season, 1-0 up going into the last 10 minutes, lost 2-1. We actually only lost two league games in the whole of the second half of the season (so out of 21 matches back then), unfortunately Liverpool just went on an incredible winning streak. Still, we bounced back well enough the following season! I was at this Forest match, I always remember (and you can see it on the video) how absolutely rammed the away end was, couldn't move. @@mikeglover8364

1985-6?it ended 0-0 that didn't it?1-1 at Everton!not 2-4 as I thought.everton failed to put away some of the lower teams that season!Oxford!Leicester!Aston villa!QPR!a real chance to retain the title.strangely won it in 1986-7 as an unfancied side, not admired by many.

When the Blues won the title in 1986-87 it passed almost unnoticed as the European ban on English clubs kicked in. I was at the match Everton v Charlton in early 1987 when the gate was quite low. The Blues won 2-1 and upon leaving recall news was through Liverpool the league leaders had lost, I think at Coventry. Then the next week lost at home to Wimbledon, while Everton unusually won at Arsenal. This brought the teams closer. With Wayne Clarke arriving and scoring freely in the run in, a defeat by Man U cost the Reds dearly, and after a steady start to the 1986-87 season Everton ran out champions. with great support by good pros like Alan Harper, Wayne Clarke and Paul Power, blending into Howard Kendall's top squad. If only todays Everton would have bought good reliable players who could give you 30 games a season instead of players unsuited to the winter weeks at cold wet stadiums.
