I had a red '87 with the sport package. Bought it new. Great car to drive with a lot of nice touches. I loved the passive rear wheel steering, the big tach properly placed in the middle, the 50-50 weight distribution and how it would shut off the air conditioning when you stomped on it so that more power would go to the engine. The only thing I didn't like was how the front end would lift up a bit at high speeds (120 mph) because the engine was so light. Just a great car.

I really like FC's and that was a nice sight to see in this world of modified FC's, especially a 2+2! Nice video!!!!

I've had two 1st gen and two 2nd gen RX7s (still driving the pristine FC convertible) and have had a LOT of fun in them. Never any problem (especially compared to my British, German and US cars). Glad to see someone else loves them too!

I had an 86 GXL. I took out the rear window for better air flow on the nice days. I installed an adapter to the wires so that the rear windshield wiper and defogger worked when I'd put the window back in. I've never seen anyone remove the rear window in one of these before, but I highly recommend it if you do.

You forgot the 4th reason!!!.... “Because you HAD an R-x7!” This was my first car when I turned 16! Mine had leather interior and a black spoiler on the back. I didn’t really like it too much then, due to it being a 2 seater. But I then realized I could just have friends ride in the hatch. 🤣 I kind of miss it now. I didn’t realize at the time what a great car I had.

I had one identical to this, but with a light blue interior. What a fun car! My son (when he was a baby) had a car seat that fit fine in the back. It was how I justified having an RX-7.

I had one. I ADORED it. Loved it, loved it, loved it. I had to ban playing Rush's Red Barchetta over the car's awesome sound system while driving, 'cuz - well - if you know the song, you know why.

Damn my base model didn’t have power mirrors. But it had the storage which replace the back seats and the sunroof. So I’m guessing my model was the base “sport”? My also had AC as well.

I had the exact same car a 1986 grey 2+2 13 b I could beat Z28s And 5.0s and my brother in laws late 70s sting rays crysler conquests but only by a little bit. Just like the camaros vetts and mustangs ect... they all handled like crap! The fronts would plow and the back stayed put and not enough power to break the rear free . Had to drop the clutch to burn out IT took balls to drift any of those 80s sports cars stock. Top speed was 136mph o to 60 was week. The rx7s had great racing potential but stock it was set for comfort over handling. my friends 82 DATSON 280zx strait 6 turbo wiped me no contest. so did a 4 door Saub once. later in life I test drove a 1990 Nissan 300zx w/a v6 turbo that car was 69camaro SS fast out of hole rubber in the first 3 gears easy 160mph was how fast I got that car to top out but I got in a police chase that day got away than the turbo overheated. I didnt buy it LOL 1st gen RX7s with 12b moters was lemings and no power but funner to drive than a 2end gen. All that being said RX7 is my favorite car
