I’ve just subscribed and watched all your content on the Gsxr. I have a 750 slabside myself that I fitted a Bandit 12 to, I used the full bandit loom, CDI, ignition switch and handlebar switchgear as I used the Bandit carbs so I have the choke control on the Bandit left switchgear. The only thing I had to do was mod the front part of the loom for the twin lights and fitted relays. I’m looking forward to seeing the progress on your bike. Oh and you’ll have fun fitting the 1200 into the frame, it’s a taller engine so it’s incredibly tight, set the valves before you fit the engine as you won’t be able to remove the rocker cover once it’s in. I also used the Bandit headers and a V&H 750 rear system on mine 👍

Thanks for the Sub, very useful info. Thanks. One question, on the 750 the fairing attaches to the head at the back of the fairing, Will the fairing still attach there on the B12?or does the taller engine negate that?

@@true-moto-resto you will need to fit the mount from the 750 onto the B12 engine but it won’t align due to it being a taller engine, I just used a flat plate and fitted that to the mount on the engine and drilled a hole in the plate to line up with the 750 fairing and bolted it through like that.

Definitely would keep the GSX-r 750 decals. Perhaps find a subtle place to call out the 1200 as well. I kept the original badging on my GS1100 but had the oil filter cover engraved 1229cc as a subtle clue.

Great work. It has come a long way. I’m doing a driveway paint job on my 2000 Katana so seeing a fellow Canuck on KZfaq is really inspiring. What stripper did you use on your gas tanks? The modern eco-stripper I bought doesn’t have any effect. Thanks!

Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. I’ve been using Circa 1850 D’Solver from Home Hardware (the stuff with a yellow label in a metal container). However….once my current supply has run out I will be buying Aircraft stripper from the body shop supply store. The price of home hardware stripper 2:35 is now ridiculous so I’ll pay $100 per gallon for aircraft stripper instead

Thank you ! Suzuki paint codes are not too useful as most body shops account translate the old codes to mixing formulas. The approach I used was to have the paint matched exactly to the decals via an optical scanner. It matches perfectly .
