That damper rod bolt is one serious unit, wow. The forks are looking great!

Cheers Matt, I'm now trying to get the Bandit 1200 running right before I pull the engine out. The carbs are puking so much fuel, internally and externally....time to rebuild them.

@@true-moto-resto Unfortunately it just seems to go with the territory. At least you've got a lot of practice with Suzuki carburetors with that GSXR build not too long ago.

The bike looked to be quite a hassle in the begining , but it's getting better by the week . Can't wait to see the finished product .

Thanks ! I was in the paint booth 12 hours yesterday, so you will see that in a few weeks

Forks are looking great! Good idea to start the assembly with the engine first.

I went through all this recently with my 86 GSX-R1100G forks, but i had the fork legs re-hard chromed to get rid of the rust, i also blanked off the anti dive units, (but kept them bolted on for the original look, they just don't do anything now), and fitted some YSS cartridge emulators, the anti dive system was never very good even when new, the difference is like night and day compared to the original setup.

Good to know, if I end up riding this one much I may have to consider the same thing

I have found the more careful I try to be, when working on forks, the more of a mess I get in!

Very true that!!

Don't know if you have tried plastic beading for cleaning up aluminium. Doesn't damage the casting profile and brings it up like new. Have a cabinet setup in my own garage.

Great suggestion!, I think princess auto sells the bead guns and glass beads. But I don’t yet have one of those

@@true-moto-resto In the uk the cabinet is only two hundred pounds and brilliant for small job like cleaning aluminium and removing light rust. Well worth the investment.

I would stick with the factory finish on the forks the polished look is not really in keeping with the bikes look imo
@true-moto-resto6 ай бұрын
Thanks Karl, yea it’s not really polished as it is brushed. I’m not a fan of polished , but brushed I do enjoy
