Very fine - thank you - any visit to Kooyong is a pleasure, what a great atmosphere. Really enjoy the grass play - and really enjoy the extended look at Claudia Kohde-Kilsch and her grass game. Really solid backhand volleys and second serve - no wonder she had great success. Some great shotmaking at times for both. A fine, fine match up from a great '87 Tournament. Much appreciated...

Kohde liked playing Hana. I'm not sure if their 1984 doubles partnership helped her learn some of Hana's tendencies, or if she just enjoyed exchanging flat strokes with her. They made a good doubles team, really pushed Martina and Pam in the 84 French final. I think they pushed them to 3 sets again at Wimbledon.

This was Kohde-Kilsch’s most winnable of her 4 major semifinal appearances.

This match had an unusual score for anyone but Hana! An illustration of how streaky she was. Playing brilliantly then completely losing it, then finding some form again.

TH. In their Us Open’s match Hana lead 7/6, 4/2 and suddenly collapsed...

@@franciscodeoliveira7935 even CHRISSIE LED 4.2 in third vs Martina in81 sf open , lost . Led 4.2in 78 Wimbledon final lost 7.5. Led at Eastbourne the tournament before 4-1 and 3 MP and lost 9-7 in third set . Chris won next year 7-5,5-7,13-11. Hana down 3-0 threw second set to save herself for the third set . She did that kind of thing ,Chrissie never threw a thing - her opponent felt like a cornered dog coming out fighting and as we All know, Chris played to keep the lead instead of really clamping down to win when she played Martina . She did beat Martina more often than any other player winning 37 losing 43 matches for a total of 80 encounters . Hana unfortunately played during a tome when two legends played - Chris andMartina

@@lenwelch2195 Mandlikova was a bit like Goolagong in that she could go Walkabout sometimes, but when she was "on" she could be brilliant. She had so much talent and those low, mid-court volley winners she could play were really something to see.

hey stefan thanks for this one what a shame kohde-kilsch couldn't continue her 60 momentum through the 3rd i was wrapped she got her revenge at the 87 us open 4th rd, now that would be an amazing match to watch from start to finish, poor hana lost her sh!t and smashing the scoreboard i can watch her matches all day and night, great player, i loved her style her matches from the 88 aussie open and 88 fed cup in melbourne were brilliant

Merci pour ce match encore une fois très intéressant. Il y a assez peu de matches de Kohde Kilsch sur KZfaq qui est une joueuse au tempérament résolument offensif mais avec un service bien faiblard pour sa taille. Hana réalise parfois des volées sorties de nulle part. C'est vraiment pour moi la plus grande volleyeuse avec Navratilova bien sûr mais Hana est encore plus talentueuse qu'elle sur ce coup. McEnroe aussi avait ce don de réaliser des volées impossibles dans toutes les positions. Un toucher incomparable. Je les aurais bien vus les 2 en double mixte... Bon c'est encore du Mandlikova tout craché dans ce match contre la grande Allemande. Un super premier set, un deuxième inexistant, et puis un troisième plein où les 2 joueuses jouent bien en même temps.

Le deuxième a été interrompu par la pluie a 3/0 et Claudia a redemarré en mettant le turbo. Hana le raconte de manière assez détaillée dans son autobiographie
