This is one of the most unusual carb assemblies that I've worked on. I'm not sure that I would sign up to do another one. I am working on a 1984 model today. The fuel routing uses aluminum tubes and orings. I hope it doesn't leak after I get it all back together.Two of the four idle jets were clogged. All of the pilot screws where loaded with debris. Good luck you guys.

I did replace all of the fuel line o-rings. Bought an assortment box of metric o-rings from Harbor Freight. Indispensable thing to have doing what I do. It is a funky carb bank.

Can I get any tips on removing the Starter Jet? The rest unscrew but I think the starter jet is a pressed fit and I'm afraid of breaking it if I pull it too hard. Mines an 85 Magna VF700C. Really appreciate any tips you can give me. Your series on this has given me a ton of good info and I've subscribed. Thanks Eric

I do not remove the jet for the enrichner. It might not like to come out. Just clean it best you can with it in there. I believe it is just for air. Is it on top of the carb, where the slide diaphragm is? It only needs to be changed out if there is a cold start issue, and I have not had that happen yet.

I honestly hate working on carbs. I know that the are relatively easy to work on and there is no electric junk on them, unless the choke is electric or something... But man, I just love fuel injection... Can you get non-ethanol gas by you?

I just rebuilt my carbs and got them into the bike. 1986 magna Vf700c. The bike ran before but it had a leak. Now I’t won’t start. It was spark because it will start on fluid. Gas is getting to the bottom of the carbs. It just seems like the gas won’t come out of the 4 carbs. Any suggestions?

Loosen the float bowl screws, and drain the bowls to make sure there is enough fuel in them. That are probably close to empty.

Set the butterflies with a drill bit. Do the primary carb first, then the others. It gets them very very close
@RustBeltAuto

I don't understand the drill bit thing.
@neilmoore3856
@neilmoore3856 4 жыл бұрын
Take a small drill bit like a 1/4 or so. Put the end that goes into the drill chuck in the primary carbs bore between the housing and the butterfly then adjust the butterfly with the idle speed screw until it just touches the bit. Then set all the other butterfies with the bit the same way, but with thier own adjuster screws. When you are done they should all be almost dead on unless something is sticking. Works great if you dont havd a carb sync setup.

Basically you are just using the bit as a feeler guage to get the gaps the same.

HI, really good video. What I did not understand, is, where to place the main jet 108 and where the 110. The floats are also marked pairwise with "A" and with "B", but where to place? ande the same to the cover of the float chamber, marked with 3-1 and with 3-2. Help would be really and highly appreciated :) thanks in advance, Alois

The front 2 cylinders are always cooler, so they are a little leaner (smaller number) I do believe. The floats, and bowls will only go one way, and will not fit in the wrong carb. 2 are the same. Hope that helps.

FYI...the 7 mm float height is measured with a Honda gauge #07401-0010000 from the bowl seam forward to the face of the float NOT from the top of the float to the face of the bowl seam as you have done. Big difference.....like 2 mm's. worth. The measurement is clearly illustrated in the Honda service manual.

I like longer how to do videos and sure miss a lot with getting to the high speed sections. I would rather have them longer and more detailed than shortened and show all the work being done. Just me. I am detailed kind of guy. Nick picky that way I guess.

You have more patience than most that's for sure. My average watch time is just over 4 minutes. Most all people don't have an attention span over 15 minutes. That was a very time consuming job. I probably had to edit over 4 hours of video or more into 3 videos totalling about 40 minutes. The long videos that take half a day to upload, almost no one watches. I try to leave the important, and funny parts, and fast forward the rest. You can always freeze frame too.

I’m getting so confused to where the fuel and air tubes go to
@RustBeltAuto
@RustBeltAuto 4 жыл бұрын
The bowl vents? I think they vent to the air box. When you put pods on it, you vent them to the atmosphere.
