The Yamaha Big Wheel 350 is the best all-terrain cycle ever produced (except the few homemade with bigger engines). This one is near-mint condition.

There is absolutely nowhere these things wouldn't go. We had a 200 that couldn't be buried. We ran the shit out of it for years; thousands of miles of hard use and not being taken very good care of, still ran and ran and ran. Awesome machines. Wish I still had one.

Idk why, and that’s a 350cc, but that bike sounds exactly....and I mean EXACTLY like my TTR 125. I dig it. I also had one of these as a kid. Mine was a bw80. I miss it. And my TTR 90. The TTR 90 was the ultimate pit bike in my opinion. 1st and 2nd gear we’re so torquey, and 3rd gave you the perfect amount of pulling/passing speed.

I've got a 350 with great bones ready for paint and reassenbly. It will go up for sale when it's done, sometime around Thanksgiving with luck. I'm planning on full stock with repro plastics and an improved mono shock. I'll try to keep video build progress on here so check back now and then.

These are so awesome. thank you for riding it around, much better than all the other bike videos just looking at it in silence. and you should clean your brake pads.

I am 90% done restoring a 350 right now. Fully powdercoated and polished, engine recently rebuilt and completely rewired. All it needs is plastics and decals. When finished, it will go up for sale. It will have a video featured here when it is ready.

The Rokon is good, They don't call it Trailbreaker for no reason. However, I give the BW the nod for it's versatility. Sure, it isn't two-wheel drive and doesn't have the tire reservoir, but the BW has a top speed the Rokon can't touch while still making great torque for the slow technical stuff. The Rokon excels in terrain most people don't go.

@lolomen123 Stock tires were 26x8-12 front (Dunlop KT646) and 23-11-9 rear (Dunlop KT647). The wider tires give the heavy bike good stabilty and great traction. It's great for rough terrain and isn't limited by the wide stance of a 3- or 4-wheeler.

i have an 85 big wheel 200 im considering selling, it needs a lot of parts replaced and stuff, but it runs awesome, i took it for a ride today and still has power. I kinda live in the middle of no where (south dakota) and probably won't ship it out of state

I have bought 350's for $900-1400. In mint shape, they're going for more than $3k. Non-mint needing no parts gfo for 2k-2500. Check the completed listings on eBay for more info. Also, there is a Yahoo Group called yamahabigwheels you can check out. lots of free info and a really comprehensive message thread.

Yeah, it was kinda noisy. This was about 2 days after I got it. I've since taken care of going through it completely. Thanks for the comment! It gets ridden about 2 miles a week.

The 350 and 200 were both 4-strokes. The BW80 has a potent powerplant that, with mods, is very stout (even for riders up to 300lbs!).

@phatboyzpullin They go about 45-50 mph stock. if you re-jet it, change the intake/exhaust and get road tires, you can push 70-80, but considering how they understeer, the smallest error might be your last.

@ClaySkoal I've had about equal numbers of both; somewhere around 10. They both have great torque/grunt, rarity/niche marketability, but they're getting harder to find and afford. Fat Cat pros: simple rideability, the Honda name and durability, clutchless shifting. Cons: one (small) engine size, comparably narrow tires, extreme difficulty in finding replacement parts. Big Wheel pros: 3 engine sizes, acceleration, more made. Cons: manual clutch, jackshaft, plastic gas tank.

@bmulanax777 the main problem with bigger motors is the available space for carb & exhaust. I see more people fabbing a swingarm and front fork to allow fatter tires INSTEAD of trying to shoe-horn a bigger engine. I imagine it's cheaper to do an engine swap, but fitting everything together may prove impossible.

5 -10 years ago when no one really knew what they were, I was able to flip about 12 of them. I was able to get 2500-3000 for each. I kept a dealer find (never started or driven) in showroom condition for $700. Current money would be $10k+

Street legal depends on the state laws. It has no directionals, brake light, horn or mirrors. You would also need DOT-approved street tires, too. It would keep up with traffic in its stock setup, but if you wanted higher top speed, you just need to swap out the rear sprocket for something with fewer teeth.

Take your time and it will be worth it. If you don't have an assembly manual or a service manual, get one of each. Decide early if you're going to go full stock or resto-mod based on your budget.

Could be, but isn't. The motor's bottom end is most like a warrior, the jug is an XT. The front forks interchange with ATC200's, but isn't the same. When three wheelers (unsafe?) were abandoned in favor of quads (just as unsafe?) and these were the earliest of crossovers, perhaps to get cycle fans used to the four wheeler look.

Ok, while watching this something just donned on me...I'm sure someone else has thought of this already too. This model was probably originally designed as a 3-wheeler. Think about it, the ATC350X was in a class all by itself. Yamaha probably changed it into a bike to save all that R&D time that they invested, and couldn't use after '86. I know Honda had the Fat Cat, and the BW200 came before the BW350, but this bike could be a 3-wheeler from the swing-arm pivot forward! Just saying.
@doinker1972
@doinker1972 14 жыл бұрын
@trckdrvrbird Actually, the BW350 and the warrior began production in late '86 and the engines are the same. Oddly enough, the carb, airbox and exhaust are not interchangeable. The BW350 is better. It seems Yamaha made the warrior so BW owners had replacement parts.

You have a BW200. Yamaha didn't make a 250. I have 2 BW350's for sale right now and they are both monsters. Way more power than the 200 but a little heavier. One is stock and one had a rear sprocket reduction and that thing could climb a rope!

You can get a replacement fender from DC plastics for a little over $50. If you don't want this one to crack, find a rear rack online and it will protect that rear fender permanently. The BW 350 is the champion of any off-road events that require agility and brute force. It's nice, too, snaking between trees and watching the quad go around the long way. BWAHAHAHHAAH!

This bike isn't made to go fast. It's made to go where 3, 4, & 6-wheelers can't, and where 2-strokes bury themselves. It's about LOW-end torque at low rpm's. Remember that each bike has things it's good at and some not so much.

Firebirdman@Comcast.net can help with the seat. He's a 350 OEM and used parts dealer. The OEM tires are long gone. You will not find any in useable shape. Even if you found one, they are 10+years old and not dependable for riding. Your best bet is a KENDA or ITP. As for size, they were something-and-a-half, so you could go either way on size and not rub.
@doinker1972
@doinker1972 14 жыл бұрын
my opinion: replace the parts you can afford to, clean it up, make it as good as you can. Then, if you still want to keep it, you have a great bike. If you want to sell it, put it on eBay. But if you won't ship it, don't bother selling it. No one will travel to SD just to buy a bike htey can get close to where they live.

Realistically, unmodified it can do about 45-50mph. I have seen heavily modifieds do 70-90, which is kinda pointless. The fab versions using 450cc engines will flat fly.

In 20 years of riding and restoring, the Rokon loses. A "marvel of engineering" but heavy, unwieldy and prone to mechanical failure. It is usually the Rokon fans that have never owned a BW that extoll the Rokon's virtues. And yes, when compared across standard criteria, the BW is the best All-Terrain cycle.
