A few tips. Most AC supply houses have line flush kits for fairly cheap. AC systems like to be very clean internally. So I recommend that with used system components. If the compressor in the old system failed then there is debris that needs cleaned out. Also I’d never use USED evap or condenser coilS because you can’t flush the contaminants out. I know from experience. Also, they have drop in replacement refrigerant that works like R12. So you don’t have to swap to R134. Keep the R12 system and get the drop in refrigerant. It’s called RS-24.

This video is gold! My 95 4runner had its ac system partially removed by previous owners? I've picked up some parts for ac but this vid def helps get me closer to an actual install even though the 3.0 has a dif layout It's as close as I've seen! Nice work bro...

Getting ready to do this on my 93 Toyota pickup. Have spent days rummaging through my local pick and pull and ebay looking for parts. The dawg on manifold on the compressor has been a challenge to find. Can’t wait it is 114 today.

Keeping our fingers crossed that ya get yer A/C fixed .. We recently did this on our '91 Toy 4X4 with existing A/C and it was WELL worth it ..I had to replace the pressure valve on the compressor manifold ( Airsource part # 5683 ) because it leaked from the stinky compressor and ALL the other parts ..I added a small electric fan to the condensor because at idle it seemed to warm up a bit 😇❤

About time somebody put a video out like this I’ve been wanting to put ac in my 1989 pick up for a long time finally found a donor truck got most of my pieces but I think the guy cut the discharge and suction softlines so I never got them. it has been a bear to try to find those lines. Could you please tell me the part numbers of your discharge and suction soft lines? And if you got a part number for that idle up diaphragm mine also has power steering, but does not have that idle up diaphragm

You can get all the components new for fairly cheap except liquid hard line.

Where did you get the liquid hard line that bolts to the wheel well? It looks new. I’d love to get a new one for my truck. I’m currently doing my truck now which is the second Toyota I’ve done. I bought all new components except hoses.

Thanks. And no, you can actually use all R12 parts, you don't need any R134 parts apart from the R12 to R134 conversation adapters for the high & low side ports.

Great video and only one like it on the internet. Question: how have your 4 Seasons adaptors worked out? Tried a conversion on a 1989 Toyota pickup recently and had a failure on the low side adaptor. Replaced the Schrader valves twice and still no luck holding pressure. Looking for a reputable replacement. Very disappointed in 4 Seasons products!

I've had no issues with my adapters. Holding pressure strong since I've put the A/C in.

Hey I had a question, I’m doing the same a/c installation on my 92 pickup that didn’t come with a/c from factory. I got all the parts & lines everything is ready to be flushed & installed. Would the a/c work without the a/c idle up diaphram? I didn’t even know I need that. Also I don’t have power steering. I’m also gonna recharge it with R12. Not converting

It might be possible for it to work, unless the a/c amplifier cuts the compressor out because it doesn't sense the engine idle up, however if it dose work you would have to raise the base idle of the engine. Otherwise the engine might stall with the added drag of the compressor.

@@DanielPace92 thanks, I also only have the 3 front compressor bracket bolts nothing for the side where the ground cable is located I also moved the ground cable to my motor mount for now since the bolt isn’t long enough. You think the front 3 bolts will hold on to the heavy compressor & the drag? Great video btw

@@shamchaudhry3224 I would get the side bolts for the bracket - they help keep the bracket from twisting towards the crankshaft pully by the belt tension. Plus they are still available new from Toyota and pretty cheap.

@@DanielPace92 thanks I ordered the 2 bracket side bolts from Toyota, they should be here by Monday. Did you put the ground cable back in its original spot with a longer bolt through the bracket?

Are the 2.4 and 3.0 systems interchangeable?

Condenser and evaporator seem to be the same. I don't think compressor and some lines are the same tho. Small line that goes from evap to condenser should work and cross line from condenser to drier is the same I think. I just pulled a condenser and evap today from a 3.0 in the salvage yard and have cross referenced part numbers to confirm for my 2.4.

Did you find that both the factory and dealer AC lines to be the same fitment in the newer r134 manifold? Think I made a mistake of buying a r134 compressor and manifold. Cross referencing part numbers on the AC lines between it all is a nightmare. Everything else is easy

It took me about a month and a half looking off and on to find all the parts. Most of the parts luckily can still be bough new from Toyota, however the parts that have to be bought used are kinda essential to get the hold thing going and usually sell fairly quickly or are entirely overpriced.,
