Ford built those 8th gen F-series pickups & 4th gen Broncos from 1987 - 1991 & I still see a lot of those pickups on the roads today. The Broncos on the other hand I don't see anymore.

They had a really nasty habit of rolling over and killing all the occupants which seems like a reasonable reason not to drive one

Bricks basically don't exist anymore in the rustbelt minus the 1 tons and superduties. The diesels are usually in better shape since they all leak oil, the frames are not nearly as rotted out lol

Your truck looks awesome! I love it when people take care of vintage vehicles like you clearly have yours. My 95 Super Duty was already suffering from torn seats and cracked dash when I bought it. I did replace some of the other broken interior pieces but had to go with a Carhart dash and seat cover. It looks good in my opinion, but your's should win an award. Great driving and shifting technique too.

Might be an issue in hotter climates, have yet to see an OBS/brick with a cracked dash up north lol. Would still prefer having to do interior work over repairing a bunch of rust though lol

Just bought one a few months ago as well. Had to get a new motor due to cavitation

@davidkonz247 Luckily mine was always ran with fleetguard so it had cavitation protection. Unfortunately though, a few months after my original comment, some old lady in a crossover going 80+ on a 35mph road rear-ended my IDI while it was parked and completely destroyed it.

This is fine, 91 model that still looks new and at least as far as interior is immaculate, so I’m sure exterior is also. And you’re easy on the ole gal, smooth shifting and no over revving nor lugging. Motor sounds good and strong as well

@@fierce1894 you really can't abuse a stock IDI with your foot. They're governed at 3700rpm and built to run at full output all day everyday. It takes awhile to get used to driving one because you typically don't use every bit of power that an engine has routinely, but that's how IH designed the IDI.

I’ve got one of those weird Centurion VanTruck things with an ‘85 6.9L and an ATS turbo kit on it but the engine is no good so I’m currently having one freshly built for it. I bought the whole rig for $43 because it sat in the previous owners yard for two years with a rod sticking out of the oil pan. It’s got a pretty gnarly dually dana 70HD rear axle with limited slip I came to find out running some numbers. I’m looking forward to driving the thing, never seen another one on the road in person.

I have a 1990 with the 7.3 and E40D which just went out on me. Have been considering the zf5 swap. One thing I was curious about was gear roll over noise however I don't necessarily hear it in this video. Have you had any issues?

Very cool ride along! If someone had only driven cars and CUVs, what do you think would be their biggest adjustment in driving your F-250?
@jpawela

Thanks! Other than driving a manual, I’d say the low gearing in this where it doesn’t jump out from under you when accelerating. Haha!

Alongside the other commenters, I think the stopping distance is also a big factor. I drove a 1989 Ford F-350 7.3 IDI 4x4 with a single cab, long bed and it was really hard to slow it down.
