Paint jobs on the cars were simple and basic. A much better look than today
@badmonkey22224 жыл бұрын
And actually painted by people with talent not some teenager slapping vinal wraps all over the car, and the cars were much more special to the drivers when they were painted also.
@acewilliams79174 жыл бұрын
@@badmonkey2222 Also the cars fit the drivers personality. DWs car is colorful and stylish as his personality. Earnhardts black car fit the intimidator. Harry Gants green bandit, Davy Allison in the Havoline, Mark Martin's Valvoline car. The car's were more than just a car.
@badmonkey22224 жыл бұрын
@@acewilliams7917 absolutely, most drivers also were not keen at all on anyone touching their cars also, Rusty was one if you touched his car without permission he would lose it. Allot of the drivers were superstitious but most just didn't like people touching their freshly painted 800k$ race car. The cars just gleamed back then, and now they look so dull because of the vinal, some cars MIGHT have a base coat but that's the extent of painting not day's.

And it looked better without Brutons additional grandstands that entombed the fans inside. Make it more like a local small town short track than a short track with massive grandstands meant for a sperspeedway. The overhead big screen tv attached to cables and towers look dumb too. What's wrong with a regular electronic scoreboard ?

Bristol was awesome when it was like this. They ruined it in 2007. They tried to fix it but they made the outside groove the preferred line.... Bad idea! When the groove was inside, you had room to knock someone out of the way without wrecking them. So when we get that back, we'll have a great race back. In the meantime, NASCAR needs to get rid of the Chase, and keep NASCAR simple, not this complex playoff crap we see today.

So sad that DW won only 1 last time at Darlington ( next week-rain delay) that season. His last CUP win. That's 2 wins that season with fuel mileage. Not just Dale. That entire generation of drivers. I am Bill Elliott fan. If something happened to his car I pretty much liked the entire field. I think most people did back then.
@NickB11212 жыл бұрын
@@JimbobZ17 Very true. There were plenty of "heels" to hate on if the primary antagonist was taken out of a race. And a few "faces" you cheered for. A lady was interviewed after Dale died (she disliked Dale and was a Gordon fan)....she said "I cheered when he crashed. But I cried so much when I learned he died." Sums it up nicely. And in today's tech world, we're just a click away from actually communicating with the likes of Rusty and Kenny Wallace, Dale Jr, Jeff Gordon, and others. God Bless, bro.

The birth of the Bristol we loved on this surface and then they decided to ruin it in 2007 which has got to be the dumbest decision ever. If it was selling out on this configuration why screw it up? The response by the current attendance should send a strong signal. How much money will they loose till they get the picture lol. If it aint broke dont fix it. Even as crappy as Nascar is now at least Bristol in this configuration would still sell out.
