Let's pound out some maintenance on the old Nissan NX2000 shall we? Today we cover: spark plugs and wires, replacing vacuum hoses, swapping out the fuel filter, replacing the air filter, installing a tie down kit for the battery, and replacing the washer reservoir cap. Last week, I saved an NX2000 from going to the junkyard. It’s definitely a lot more rough than yours, but it’s all there and original. Haven’t had much time to start messing with it. Glad someone else is actively working on one in the USA. I may need to ask you some questions at some point lol,

Did you replace the distributer? Also, If the washer fluid cap is that bad then I'd bet the tank itself is? As for the battery stability, in my '06 G35 coupe I had the power cut at highway speed, lost all power and the transmission made an awful clunk. Fortunately, the worst thing to happen is that I can no longer manually downshift the 5A/T. That was years ago and I have still to be able to get the original J-bolt battery holder to actually HOLD the battery. 16 years of ownership and securing the batter has been my biggest pain - I wonder if there is a solution similar to what you used..?

Distributor was done by the previous owner so that was a bonus…but an easy job to do if it needs changing. Reservoir tank actually looks/feels solid…reckon the cap degraded due to exposure to engine heat up high. That’s a scary scenario…I’ve had it happen on two cars…the latest was a Miata with a trunk mounted battery and the actual positive wire pulled out of the terminal clamp while o was on the highway. Exciting.
