Darrell Maddox personally, I never saw the point of spraying down the head of a bolt, and waiting a day or two to see of something might happen. That is right up there with watching paint dry, and sniffing glue.

Hi I'm Juan and I'm kinda confused here with a new used transmission on my 2005 grand caravan 3.8L a friend put it on on his shop it's was his first one of this kind I'm talking about side ways position, but now when I tried it it feels rough to start like a starter problem but before the replacement I had no problem about that, and also now with the A.C. on it definitely feels shaking and shuts off after a few seconds, do you have any idea what happened there? Does it needs to be programmed with the van? Anything will help thank you You also can reach me at hjuand777@yahoo.com

Thx so much for this great video. You are a great mechanic. Like you show us, a lot of the replacement work involves getting the corroded broken bolt shanks out in order to reassemble the parts. What a time consuming pain. But once the trans is out, it's fairly easy and cheap to rebuild this trans, if u shop for good parts at good prices. And the rebuild it to new condition is normally cheaper than a high mileage used trans that could blow two weeks after you put it in , even if it was "working ok" in the other vehicle. It would for me 70/30. You must be a 50/50 guy.
@RustBeltAuto
@RustBeltAuto 5 жыл бұрын
I don't rebuild transmissions for other people anymore. They always have the option to go to a transmission shop, and have it done, or have me put a remanufactured one in it with a good warranty from a reputable company. You just never know what is wrong with one until you take everything apart. Those usually always need a new solenoid pack too. Paying me to do the labor, and whatever else it might need if something is wore out or broken, might cost just as much or more than to just get one that is already remanufactured. Thanks for watching!

Wow, I give it to you friend. These new front wheel type trannys seem a wwhole lot more complex than in my time, when I rebuilt my Chrysler Cordoba's torque flite 8 tranny. Even dropped an 81 Chevy citation's tranny, after removing bolts etc, by sliding it off on the bottom "H" plate. But there were'nt that many difficulties as I see here. I am currently faced with this delimma, in which my spider gears in differential are bad. Left wheel spins, right doesn't. Nevertheless, I enjoyed watching this video with a touch of Nyquil severe cold, to douse the nerve wrecking snaps of vital bolts! lol.. By the way, I liked the Extra precaution, of having jack stands under the lifts arms! lol..

Is this the 4TE transmission? It looks like it. I replaced one of those on a 2001 Sebring convertible. I rebuilt the engine and failed to properly seat the torque converter---I didn't seat it at all, lol. So after all of that time re-assembling everything, I had to take it all back apart. :) There's a very nice Chrysler Town and Country 2002 for sale in my area and it needs a new transmission. It has 160k on it and it's only $500. I'm thinking of getting it!

I feel your pain! used a 2' long screwdriver to tip one in, fell totally inside, used magnet to fish it up to use needle nose visegrips and slide hammer to pull, and highly recommend either buy or rent the OTC ?offset Freeze plug installer tool (use grease on threads and ball!) That big cradle plate is a pain to remove, on a 1996 had to loosen the ABS bracket cage to get access to the last backing nut. edit*you might not have to remove the cradle plate, I didn't/couldn't the first time I had this problem, and that time I used a RUBBER freeze plug fix, which was leaking 2 years later, maybe because I never retightened it. The access to far right one, passenger side, on a 1996 is about impossible because of power steering lines.
