How to pack bearings, and do a brake job on a Ford Ranger. Also the same rotors for 1995-2001 2wd Explorer, and Mercury Mountaineer.

I was almost just one of them idiots that was about to order cross drilled slotted rotors for my ranger. My front brakes are toast right now and I wanted to put whatever brake setup is gonna be most cost effective for me and last the longest. Thank god I saw your video because I would be pushed if I had to replace my brakes in a year. I have a 2003 ford ranger edge 3.0 that I have kept bone stock but I keep it looking almost brand new. I may be crazy but the ranger is my dream truck. I have always loved them. It does everything I need and it’s not a complete gas hog because it’s a v6. I also love the way they look. I have what is considered the super cab which has the half ass folding back seats but no regular sized person is fitting back there. Anyway thank you for sharing your knowledge and fro saving me from wasting money and a future headache

Spinning the wheel while micro tightening the bearing nut is key. You want the hub assembly to sit firm but obviously not pinched too tight to avoid burning out all the grease.

The problem with the pad’s being chewed up isn’t the rotors it’s the pad those organic ones chew up easily the ceramic wear better with the drilled and slotted rotors

.....Don't let anything hit the ground he says... But you're right man, get some grit in there and your bearings will be toast in now time... Some good tips for sure. Pretty funny how you see those pads on a bike ride. It's honestly amazing how many people neglect brakes on a car. I see orange rusty shit on the sides of cars all the time and I know it's because their brakes are ready to fly apart and kill someone... OKAY BYE!

Torque spec for the caliper carrier??

Finally found your video after seeing nothing but 4wd bids. You sped through the removal of the carrier bracket. Using a 1250ftlb Milwaukee impact the top bolt will not come out! Aren’t the bolts the same direction?

The caliper support bracket can be a bear sometimes. Might be time for 1/2" breaker bar, and a jack pole.

how do you know if you need to do the bearing pack on top of new pads. Or do you do the bearing every time you change brakes ?
@RustBeltAuto

You should. You really don't know if it needs to be done, until it is too late.

1 1/16" or 27mm. You can use the socket to seat the races if you replace them
