Thomas James Snyder (May 12, 1936 - July 29, 2007) was an American television personality, news anchor, and radio personality best known for his late night talk shows Tomorrow, on NBC in the 1970s and 1980s, and The Late Late Show, on CBS in the 1990s. Snyder was also the pioneer anchor of the prime time NBC News Update, in the 1970s and early 1980s, which was a one-minute capsule of news updates in prime time.

I get a big thrill out of watching Tom Snyder's bushy and very lively eyebrows going up and down,up and down on his forehead.

The Late Show host being interviewed by the Late Late Show host. And Dave and Peter Lasally produced and owned both shows.

It's interesting to know that Dave considered moving the show to LA from NY, to get better guests. Johnny Carson was based in NY from 1962-1972. In 1972, he moved the show to Burbank. But, these days, a lot of shows originate from NY, like Colbert, Fallon, Seth Meyers and others.

It's not location that gets you better guests, it's the ratings and the cachet of the show. For the first year or so at CBS, Dave had better ratings than Leno. Once Leno overtook Dave, ratings-wise, it stayed that way. But Dave always had the cachet. He was the natural successor to Johnny, just as Conan is natural successor to Dave. If your NY-based show has the prestige, the respect, you'll get the guests. It's just easier to get them when they live 30 mins away.

Oh yes he would openly talk about this on his 1980’s radio show through ABC. Trains as well and it was AWSOME to hear him talking about cars too.

I had no idea that Tom Snyder was such a tough interviewer! You don't see this on TV too often these days. Compare to Oprah and all other shit.

I hated David Letterman for replacing "The Tomorrow Show". The greatest talk show was Snyder's "The Tomorrow Show". I realized that it was NBC who destroyed "The Tomorrow Show". Later Letterman was supportive of Snyder and produced his shows. I still never cared for Letterman because he's like Carson. Nothing special in his show compared to Jack Paar's "Tonight Show".

Well because I'm near 100 - Late night people like Cavett and Snyder tried to bring back the Jack Paar glory days of interviewing - when people talked. I hated Johnny Carson - not so much in the beginning because he did conduct interviews, but by the 1970s "The Tonight Show" became a 90 minute commercial for guests. Jay Leno was the worst. You might be right about anything on Television that shows intelligence. People aren't interested, which probably explains Donald Trump's presidential run.
