1997 Chevy C1500 Review - American-Made RELIABLE Workhorse?!?!

The 1997 Chevrolet C/K 1500 is known as a "forever truck". In this video I show you why and go over some basic specs of this truck. Also, in this video I do state specs shared by both the K and C1500, the only real difference between the two is the fact that the K-Series trucks were the all-wheel drive versions, while the C-Series trucks were the rear-wheel drive versions.

I just bought a 1997 GMC Sierra K1500 with 278,000 miles. Needed a new gear box, fuel filter, and crankshaft sensor. And it’s good to go. Drives great. It’s got some scratches here and there but no rust solid body & frame. I love this truck!

Bought my 97 Chevrolet C1500 in 99. Extended cab, split bench, no 3rd door just like this one. I plan to keep it forever. It has the 5L engine and got 16/17 mpg city and 22 highway for most of that time. It's dropped to 15 mpg lately. No body rust. Frequently asked if I would consider selling. Thanks for this video.

You forgot to include that this truck came with a 454 big block gas engine which was in the 1500s,2500s, and 3500s

The K1500 is not an all wheel drive, it is a 4 wheel drive. BIG DIFFERENCE

I will pick up my 97 Chevy C1500 in about 2 weeks when its done getting out its LPG system. It "only" has like 153.5k miles on it which is indeed fairly low for a 25 y/o truck. Cant wait for it! :)

That thing would be worth a lot in Michigan... no rust!! That thing is still in mint condition!!

The 4.3 had that tow weight in the C (realized after I wrote that it was dependent upon the final drive ratio. The C came standard with the 3.42 and the K with 3.73..so your 305 w/3.42 final wasn't any better than the k4.3 w/3.73) and 4500 I think in K. But the v8 towed better numbers. I won't say what the K 4.3 will tow.. but I will say you better be real careful and tow in 3rd. Those EPA numbers weren't quite accurate in those years. A K will get those numbers. The C's could do better. On the '95 up 4x4 they only rated for 1 mpg drop between the two. And that's about right. But I remember when a '95 k1500 4.3 would get 21+ at distance at 62mph..& that guy didn't mind driving that speed for that extra mpg. Now he's more inclined to accept 19-20 at a higher speed...

that exhaust manifold has been around since the small block was created and they also had the 4l80e with the 6.5

Is 4k a good price for a C1500 with 133,886 miles and 1 owner? I know that's specific but the truck is very clean and I wanted to hear your opinion. Great video overall.

If it is super clean and everything mechanically is working great I think that is somewhat fair but I do consider that just a little bit steep but I obviously cant even see that specific truck. Honestly, if it is in the same condition of the truck in this video is, then I would say that is way too expensive BUT if it is truly in pristine condition mechanically and aesthetically then it may be worth it. 4 thousand is a good price,,but at 133 thousand klm thats very low and in Canada it could be worth a fair bit more.

The 350's advertised 255 horse 355 ft lbs was way conservative. All I did was stick a set of long tube headers with super 40's on er and a K&N Airraid intake. Could cook'em at will through 1 and 2 and bark in 3rd. Nothing could catch it with the governor eliminated via chip. too bad the transmission was not built to hold up.

4L80 will solve that issue. 3/4 & 1 ton trans. But adds 100lbs of weight.

Not the most reliable, but the best because of the aftesrket, and ease of maintenance. Everything comes apart and together like Legos. That's why I love them; when they run right they run GOOD.

You can't kill these trucks. Transmissions are the weak point but are cheap to rebuild comparatively.

2k a fair offer for a 94 2wd w/ 240k miles? Possible trans issue, thermostat needs replacing, needs 1 new tire, and front passenger side fender damaged.

Lol I have the exact same truck, same paint, same miles , same hard shift into second & same sloppy steering everything except my dent is on the front fender I got it for 1200 & she's a runner.

Had one.. Bad Ass Motor. Do not get an automatic ... The L460e is junk. Mine broke under warranty the first time. The final time it broke I left it on 275. (4th trans failure). Motor made 300K miles though.

What's a good price for one with 150000? Needs tires and ac hose is leaking.
