This was the game that defined this 1997 team. Went into Happy Valley and crushed the Lions. Brings back so many great memories.

Best game I've ever seen Michigan play. This game is reason #1 why there shouldn't have been a split title. They were world beaters.

GeneralAgrippa When this game aired in 1997, I had been following Michigan football for over 20 years. This was the most dominant game I had seen from a Michigan team.

if that doesn't wet your appetite, you're watching the wrong channel... The last time that Brian Griese ran that far, his father was chasing him with a stick. Simply the best announcer ever

This was such a huge weekend. I remember Michigan was #4 in the AP (miss those good old poll days!) and Penn State #2. Nebraska barely (and illegally) survived against Mizzou so when Michigan crushed, absolutely crushed the Nittany Lions they jumped to #1. As a 13 year old that season I remember cutting out the AP poll every Sunday from the Ann Arbor News (an actual newspaper!) and would out it on the fridge. That was such a magical season.

@@Jon.A.Scholt I was 13 years old as well. I will never forget the "catch kick" (Now Nebraska coach, Scott Frost) celebrated like crazy. We so deserved the National Championship but it was Tom Osbourne's last year and of course the Coaches Poll sided with them. Still 1997 was a great year

@@DMichiganWol21 I was furious that Phil Fulmer voted Michigan #4 in his final coaches poll because he was mad woodson won the Heisman over Manning. I have hated him ever since. But yes, '97 was a once in a lifetime season (well, hopefully not!)

This was a huge day of college football too. Michigan and Penn State, Nebraska barely got by a determined Missouri team (kicked ball) and Florida State beat UNC in a matchup of two top five teams that night. The ultimate Survival Saturday.

Someone should have made watching this tape compulsory for Rich Rodriguez before his first day on the job. "See that thing that prevents the other team from scoring and moving the ball well? That's called 'defense.'"

McQueary was stupid for calling out Woodson the week leading up to the game. The bigger the stage, the better #2 played. Perhaps the most complete performance I have ever witnessed a Michigan team put together.

It wasn't that Michigan won that stunned me. It's how they did it. I thought Michigan would win, but I had it as a touchdown game, not a 26-point game.

I remember this. The day was slated as Judgment Day and Missouri should have beaten NU, while UNC lost to the Seminoles and Michigan obviously beat an overrated PSU team and should have been #1 from this point on, but they only split the title based on the fact that the Huskers coach was retiring that year, but it's cool.

After this game ABC immediately cut to that game because they saw it as a potential upset. As a soccer fan i was excited by the play although i was also disappointed that now there were three undefeated teams. They had an "online poll" after the game on ABC's website that night asking people who was number one, about 60-70% said Michigan.
