This is a really easy video on how to disable the ABS. I would get your car fixed but after doing this I am not sure I really want to go back to having my ABS work. I really hope nobody experienced this but I am afraid with these vehicles it is more common than we think. Please do this at your own discretion knowing it will disable your ABS. Soon I will show you have to replace or at least check you wheel speed sensors. Thanks for watching see you on the next one.

You are welcome. Mine is still pulled as life got busy and it's working great. Just remember the tires will lock up.

I really appreciate the discussion as well as the how to - I've got a 2000 suburban that has been mostly grounded due to this issue - mine makes a groaning noise. I'm pulling the fuse now to see how it goes. Thanks!

This video is very helpful. Only had the ABS screw up once, but it's nice to know I can easily disable it if needed. Mine is also a 97 Suburban

Pulling the fuse can cause your brake lights to not work. It disables your entire brake electrical system. Unplug the ABS from the front of the unit. I just had this issue on a 98 Sierra K1500.

I have a 95 yukon and the ABS has recently come on, will the ABS system keep the torque converter from locking up on the freeway? Just noticed I don't have lockup on the highway while the ABS light is on.
@NVSRides
@NVSRides 3 жыл бұрын
It should not have anything to do with that at least from my experience. Mine functioned and functions normallywith the light on.

@@NVSRides Funny thing just happened last night I was driving my truck ABS light still on and no lockup when I got on the freeway, anyway when I got off I was driving down a bumpy road that was sloped on one side making my truck lean to the passenger side. As I'm driving down this road my ABS light turns off, I got on the nearest freeway and guess what my torque converter started to lockup again LOL

My abs goes off and them back on 5-10 seconds later and stays on. Any idea where I should start with this it is 1994 so no codes to get.

I have a 95 yukon my light just came on but it does go off sometimes, I just ordered the wheel sensor's online both for $20. I did notice that I don't have lockup on freeway now im assuming it has something to do with the ABS system.

I have a 97 GMC Suburban its parked in my driveway again it already does all of things that you describe in this video the tires lock up and grab the vehicle doesn't stop and I have no control over it and I've not even pulled the fuse. And like yours you fix one thing another thing needs to be fixed so it spends much of its time in the driveway and some time in the shop. The only positive thing I can say about the vehicle is the engine is good but I don't think with all of the antifreeze that its been losing for the last year that I even want to trust it. This is hands down the worst vehicle that I've ever owned and that's saying alot bc I could open a small car lot if I still had all of the vehicles that I've ever owned.

I think most of these trucks are like that. You fix one thing two more break. I keep thinking eventually it will stop but it doesn't. I would buy another though. Thanks for your comment.

@@NVSRides In the old days when I started driving we drove the old 60's and 70's vehicles and yes, I'm really that old lol. We didn't have anti lock brakes and we had less accidents in the good old days. I have an old 1971 Chevy C - 10 in my driveway and one of these days I'm going to figure out how to fix the problems on her and I will be driving her again.

I am a huge fan of the 67-72 c10. They are one of my favorite vehicle ever made. I love my 71. I think people were more responsible back in the day and less distracted while driving honestly.

@@NVSRides I couldn't agree more I love my old 71 Chevy she s a good old truck solid, strong dependable running vehicle or was until someone stripped her for brake parts. I think back in the day not only were people less distracted they knew how to drive and handle their vehicle they didn't need anti lock brakes they knew how to stop their vehicle without them. I also have a 72 el camino, she's on lockdown she's my show car.

Not that I have noticed. I put new wheel bearings and sensors on about over a year ago. Not sure what the problem is. New brake lines in mail as we speak.
