I really do appreciate these videos and the time you take to educate us. For the life of me I could not get to the o2 sensor on the Cat and ended up breaking the connection. If I only knew to go through the cabin area lol. Now I know. Thank you so much!

I do own the same 1999-2000 EX, just in emerald green metallic and 4 doors, I came coincidentally across it and purchased it on the spot around 4 yrs ago with 84000 km, it was like new! It got brand new headlights, new water pump and new timing belt before they sold it. Love it to pieces, now in 2019 it has 121000 km, going strong without any hiccups (cross my fingers). Once a year a complete service, and I can say: this car is absolutely incredible, I loooove it. You are lucky that you can do all your car-stuff yourself, but I found through recommendation a car shop who does an excellent job on older vehicles, the manager even drives a 1989 car in incredible shape, so he understands the 'love' that customers feel when they bring 'their baby'. LOL. I'm going to drive my Honda until its last breath, who needs a CD player or an ash-tray in the car. hahaaaa. I was just watching your video because I looked up "catalytic converter thefts", my neighbor had her's stolen last night.

What part fits a 14DZ2 engine? Civic 3 door hatch from 99-01. I have have put a cat without a sensor on it because i can't find a second hand one with a sensor. Engine light is on because no sensor, car runs like new.

Well cat converters aren't needed. They are a must by state laws for "air pollution" not all states require it but they use it to make that $$$$

If your side windows are having trouble moving up and down, I had that same problem and sprayed some Liquid Wrench Silicone Spray (red on the label) into the slots on either side of the glass. It's doesn't take much so don't over do it. Some people complain about the smell, but it goes away after a week or so and seems to lubricate forever. My windows move up and down effortlessly now (prior the passenger side would barely move).

For the downstream o2 sensor are you able to use the factory rubber gromit on a new sensor? Like can you take the blue part off the old one and slip it on a new one? Because my new o2 sensor I ordered didn't come with one at all.

Hi what happen to heatshield ? you didnt put back on the new catalyc converter ?

The heat shield is built into the original catalytic converter and cannot be transferred. The new converter has its own heat shielding

You need the magnaflow one California grade carb compliant. Only one that made mine pass. It’s $1,060 & part number is #4481628 from magnaflow

Yeah you save money but their is an old saying “the cheap will always cost you more” and eBay is the worse place to go especially for a oxygen sensor and cat converter.

Still works great till this day. On older cars that aren't as sensitive this is a fine solution. On newer cars with wideband O2 sensors, you are correct.

@@JackofAllMasterofNone I have a 99 manual 1.6 not vtec with 178,000, at 132 my top sensor went bad, bought it from the dealer almost $200. Had to do it bc I’m in California and they are strict with smog or else my car won’t pass smog, my check engine light is on now, it’s the cat converter and it’s roughly $800 but at least not thousands. It’s worth it, these cars run forever if you take care of it which i have been doing.

Mine just got stolen a few days ago. I have a Honda Civic EX 1998 manual. Luckily the cops found it the next morning in a nearby apartment complex parking lot. Unfortunately, the thieves took the catalytic converter and broke their lock picks off in the ignition key hole. I couldn't insert my keys to get the car running... and they left the damn windows open and I couldn't close them. The trick to getting the broken picks out was to take a large flat head screw driver and position it in the slot and gently press inward (like you do with the key) and then quickly pull the screw driver back; this causes the cylinder to 'pop out' back to it's normal position and the picks eventually worked their way out. I was able to use the key again to start the engine and close the windows.
