I own a GT, but I have mad respect for the V6. Some of you don’t remember the struggle for pony cars in the 90’s and early 00’s. That V6 kept the Mustang alive! When the Camaro and Firebird disappeared, the V6 Mustang sales kept us alive long enough to proclaim victory with the Terminator and then to the redesign in 2005. The PT Cruiser, Prowler, Chevy SSR and HHR all hyped up the retro-modern designs, but the Mustang killed it and sparked the market demand enough for Camaro and Challenger to make it back. Mad props to the V6 owners for keeping the team alive.

Love my v6 learning a lot about cars since I’ve had it learning that it can still be a fun car without as much power as a gt but I’m at the point where I want those bigger gains I bought shorties for my v6 and was unimpressed feel like I shouldn’t spend more money on the v6 just keep it comfy and save for the gt what u guys think?

Its the sound of the V8. I still get a kick every time I start my small block! I know these days there is so much power they can squeeze out of a 4 cylinder car. However it needs to sound like a proper muscle car. Only my opinion.

I have an 02 V6 and for the $1,150 I paid for it (I repaired an exhaust leak, bought a missing air vent piece, new passenger side door hinges, and new headlights for it now) is amazing. I'm the second owner, the only other owners being a middle aged couple who daily drove it. 212, 467 miles on it and still a strong son of a bitch! It just needs the stuff I bought for it to come in the mail and its almost a brand new car. I bought seat covers for it too and I'm going to baby that thing. It goes fast for me, (I got to 121 and was terrified since I passed a cop. Good thing he was looking at his phone while parked.) And the 3.8 is surprisingly great on gas, for it being a pony car, not the type for an economy gas saver. I get about 22MPG average, and it takes me about 14 days of everyday driving to town and back to fill it up. If I go cruising a while, it STILL lasts a while! If you want good gas saving, decent power, and a nice first car (its MY first car btw), and a car that the girls will like, get a V6. Though most girls will prefer GT's if they're car nuts. I've gotten tons of compliments for my v6. "Nice car!" "Love the style!" "Nice sound!" "Dude, this thing's actually pretty fast!" Are what I've heard. It's also WAY cheaper on insurance (and modding)> If you want to save money, get a v6. Want a fun play toy? Get the GT.

How funny!! I just got a 2000 mustang v6 for $2000 with 137k miles that had the same exact problems, I fixed everything for about $600 and got the fluid changed and it runs so nice! The engine feels like new. The carfax showed that it was very well taken care of by its original owner(oil changed ever 3k miles even) for 101k miles. I think I made out like a bandit considering the market right now

WOW, One of your fans brings his car for you to drive and review. You sort of attempted to be unbiased, but pretty much ripped his car apart for being a v6, with him in the passenger seat. Plus tons of comparing to the v8. tow totally different worlds, and plenty of v6's blowing the doors off the v8's. I really think you could have done a better job with this. That kid actually looks a little embarrased. Maybe he isnt, but he looks it. Its a clean car, super nice. For being bone stock, its pretty awesome.Oh and driving his, but not letting him cruise yours..... massive loss of cool points. Im really liking the other vids so far though, I like to end on a positive note and your channel is otherwise pretty good.

"Yes i did just pull in a v6" implying that its stupid? Like, the v6 can be very fast if you build it or supercharge it. Not only do you get better mileage with the v6, its cheaper to mod and you have to work for your power. I dont get why everyone disses the v6.

Do you have a lot of V8s in Sweden? Probably more 4 bangers so you don't have to fill up as often, my truck gets about 11 mpg and a 30 gallon tank so when it gets low it takes a lot to fill it up, so I'm going to try to find me a smaller truck so it doesn't take so much to run it. Or go all electric one and do away with gas power all together. Not only are we paying too much but we are killing our world too and sooner or later that will affect us all and not in a good way!!

Nothing wrong with a V6. In 2000 my brother bought a V6 New Edge and decked it out with the nice rims, lowered it, got the dual exhaust, got rid of the resonators, got flowmasters and tinted windows. When he got a motorcycle, he gave the Mustang to my Dad and he had the taller springs put back on for the better ride. To most people, even people who know GT's even think the V6 is a GT just because of how it sounds and looks. Now it sounds great at low to around 3500 rpm but after that it just sounds like a regular car if you will. For the last year it's been mine when my Dad got a '75 Corvette. Always wanted the car, got it, didn't change much, just got it painted black again and that's it, original motor and transmission, no major issues, 276K miles. Now I e bought an '03 GT and that's currently my project.

I bought a new 2017 Mustang V-6 this past January. I'm thinking about trading up to a GT. However, I'm getting 21 MPG around town and 31 MPG on the highway. With gas projected to sky rocket in the near future, it's tough to give up a car with 300 HP and giving me this kind of good gas mileage.

Not only is a V6 my first car but my first time learning to drive stick shift and my family was really nervous for me because I’m a new driver with a newly obtained license (I’m 18!) and they felt as tho the car would be “too much” for me. Watching so many videos made me feel like the V6 was the slowest car ever and I’d never wanna drive with other mustangs on the road out of embarrassment...moral of the story I’ve learned to jus accept the fact that I have a car period and one day I’ll jus save up for a newer 2015+ GT mustang

Honestly man, say what you want about them being "shitboxes" or whatever the hot term is right now. My first real car was my family's old 99 V6 and while it wasn't fast in any sense of the word, they do teach you a lot about driving if you let them and they're great for just back and fourth driving if you don't care to really drive it.

In the future I really want to get a new edge as a drift project. Aside from having a bigger engine and LSD, is there anything spec-related that a GT has over a V6? I’d end up swapping the engine either way so HP doesn’t matter to me.

Dude, I’m currently looking at the same seats that you have in your 4.6 for my 2000 gt and I saw a video on the install and was let down when I found out that by switching seats you will have an air bag warning light and my car has a catless x pipe and probably a bad wheel speed sensor so my abs and my check engine light are both on and I can do something about the lights that are on so far but this one is forever or until you put the old seats back in But I love the way they look in your car bro so if you can hit me back and let me know what you think about the seats

The V6 from years 99-04 are actually great platforms to get power out of if you know what your doing. Actually have the potential to be the fastest version if you are willing to put some work in. Can be made to handle much better than an equivalently spec'd GT. Avoid the convertible at all cost as its sluggish as all hell. Has better MPGs if you actually buy a sport/muscle car for MPGs for whatever reason. The GTs are great cars especially for something with a small amount of go and some sound to it. If you want power you need to either swap the motor or go boost. Only real advantage is your starting with the 8.8 and LSD and have the sound of a V8. 94-95s have the better 302 motor while the 96-04s have the same exact 4.6l 2v motor with the PI stuff in 99+. Depending on how your going to use it depends on the version. For Street/Drag use get the GT or even GT Convertible. If you want to use it for Street/Drift/Grip get a V6 coupe. Get an Auto if you want to Drag race and have lots of traffic or get the Stick if you want to enjoy the car more on the street and do Drift/Grip racing. If your going to drag race the car start with a 94-95 GT so the eventual 351 swap is practically a straight bolt in affair.

i had a 2001 v6 mustang as my first car. 90,000 miles on it. it didn’t give any problems besides the water pump but got it is so slow i know it’s not supposed to be fast and the response with the gas was terrible and it wasn’t that comfortable, the seats weren’t bolstered at all and you slide around everywhere. it’s an okay first car not good on gas at all but it’s still a car and it does run fine but it’s all preference

Out the gate the 6 is easier to ballance which can partly be done by something as simple as putting a fiberglass hood on it , because its lighter lighter (about 3100 lbs) the v6 is able to be tuned out pretty heavily if u do it right, can be modified more efficiantly simply because theyre more bare bones and theyres no reson to buy things youre already planing on replacing; the frame is lighter duty which gives u the option to modify frame and chassis more to youre own taste, plus that lowers the center of gravity, the 6 cylinders if done properly will handle an easy 300 350 hp if u put a screw compressor supercharger on the motor with maybe 10 or so pounds of boost if u tune it for the boost, and honestly. 350 hp and plenty torque turns a v6 into a sleaper real fast because theyre generaly looked down on. Plus the v6 is less likely to break the tires loose because the torque curve is lower at the bottom end compensating for the natural over steer because every new edge is front heavy. And btw, no amount of hp is going to make a bad driver fast. Learn to drive a slow car fast before u try to drive a fast car... At any speed.. And learn the breaks better than the gas peddle. The less and better u learn to slow down, the better you will maintain speed.
