19th Ever Backpacking Endeavor: Episode 2 - Broken By The Swamp

Well things don't always go according to plans so one must be flexible. We started off planning to do 37 miles over 1 full and 2 partial days. In our episode today we come up short of that goal and call it early. We still managed to knock out about 21 of those 37 miles and broke a DMS Record with 16.78 miles hiked in one day! Join us for the conclusion of the 19th Ever Backpacking Endeavor!

Awwe, good job fellas! It amazes me how well mister does on these hikes!! That trail is really out there! Wow! It'll give you something to accomplish next year! 😊

Yup! We should have an easy peasy wrap up of the swamp fox passage next year! It was still a great adventure!

That’s crazy how the app and actual miles are off. You guys are hiking as much as Melissa is running. Good you have an escape plan. Showing that things don’t always go to plan. This makes it more relatable.

Yes it's pretty significant mentally speaking when you think you should be done but have 2 miles left... that 2 miles seems alot longer! The Palmetto trail is pretty easy to get off and on so that makes it a great trail for us! Ya in 19 backpacking trips i think this was the first one that didn't go according to plan! That's a pretty good track record!!

Love Mister sharing honestly. You Rugged Mountain Men are tremendous hikers!!! Love that you are talking about next year. We might set a goal to join you for part of the Swamp Fox Trail during the day. Mister might need his own mic❤

There's lots of road crossings so I'm sure we can work something out! 😀 i have one to where he could always be miced up!! Maybe I'll do that next time. Ultimately i think we could have made it if physically... it was our mental game that was off!

It's never a bad thing to know where the breaking point is, so it can be avoided in the future. 👍👍

Is also great to reference later if we're having trouble with a shorter distance to be like... Hey, we've made it even further before!

Well... we SORTA finished it... just didnt get as far as we intended! Its not like we were going to get a prize for making all 37 miles!

It's the worst! I wonder if Onx Backcountry is any more accurate. I see so many hikers promoting it.

@@DMSAdventures I don’t know. The only thing I know about that app is their parent company. OnX hunt was not very good. They didn’t update their data base very often so I have been jaded by that experience.

Let Rugged Mountain Mister know he's a beast for handling all those miles. 💪 Looks like a beautiful forest. What's the elevation gain on that trail?

Thanks Jason! 🤜 🤛 I will!! For the whole trail we were supposed to do it was 325 ft! The trails we have done recently were like, 3700 ft and 4200 ft! Essentially there is no elevation gain on the swap fox passage! Which is really nice!!

@@DMSAdventures Sounds nice. Did the ground have that soft almost spongy pine feel? I love heavily pine hikes on my old feet. 😁

A fair amount of it did yes!! It's so nice! Especially for old feet. But after 15 miles my old feet needed more than a soft pine trail... they needed a masseuse!!
