About the cotter pin install. The torque spec for a Honda is very low, between 30-40 lb ft. It seems you have tightened it to a good 60 lb ft at least so the castle nut is too high compared to the hole. The pin should pass snuggly through the hole and between the nut’s castelations. As shown in the video, the pin is free to rotate and clear the castelations completely and thus is serving no purpose.

@whiplash9823
@whiplash9823 3 жыл бұрын
Hiya Ariel! These tools are usually sold with a variety of wrench openings so that you can select one that fits. They are typically rented the same way (if you can find anyone renting tools these days!). Depending on the access on your vehicle, once the flat washer is bent back, you may be able to break the inner tie rod joint with a set of large channel locks, might save you some dough. I did notice that she did not show the step of tightening up the zip ties she applied to the inner side of the bellows cover. That does need to be tight with whatever clamp style fastener you might use.

that torque on wheels seems too weak, why not just tighten it as hard as you can with the car's wrench wheel
@BaliMystic
@BaliMystic 5 жыл бұрын
If you apply too much torque, you can yield the threads in the lug nuts. In that case, the threads are damaged and will not hold as well during repeated use. I personally torque my wheel nuts to 90 lb ft because at 80, i could free them with almost just the weight of my arm. 90 requires just a bit of strength to loosen after a whole season of use and is close to spec so perfect for me.
