@@Fyourfeelingz 2 years ago i brought a like new yr 2000 Accord SE with 90,000 miles for a good price but it had a slipping tranny, the interior, engine, and seats are flawless, i couldn't say no, but the owners did nothing but oil changes, but the tranny was slipping and possibly could of lost on the deal if i had to buy a rebuilt tranny, so i drained out the black and dirty 3.7 quarts from the bottom plug, then went to autozone and brought a 5ft hose or you can cut an old water hose, took off the top clamp holding the tranny line to the bottom of the radiator, its right above the 2 headed tranny solenoid right in front of the engine, put the hose over the silver metal line and have someone with a funnel ready to start pouring original honda tranny fluid when you start the engine and run the dirty remaining radiator tranny fluid into a flat 5 gallon container from Walmart waiting to catch the dirty fluid, replace the tranny bottom plug and pour in 2 quarts then start engine and have assistant immediately pour more tranny fluid in fast to keep up with the fluid busting out the hose into the container, once you see the clearer fluid after only 10 seconds immediately stop engine, remove hose and reclamp tranny hose and top off with fluid but the secret is make sure you add 8oz of original Lubegurd fluid as part of the top off refill line on dipstick, only 8 ounces, after 50 miles the slipping went away and i got 17,000 miles with no tranny issues since, i feel like i got another 100,000 in that tranny, but you gotta learn how to give those cars enough time to shift gears, ya gotta push the gas pedal slightly to work with the gears shifting on that model, dont gun it from a dead start and take off too fast the tranny cant keep up and you strain it, you gotta feel and listen to the gears shifting, you will piss off some A holes who tailgate you but your trying to avoid a new tranny, and remember those 98-2002 4 cyl hondas only want original dealer tranny fluid at $ 9 a quart, do not put any other fluid from autozone or O Reilly's that says its just as good in that Honda.

Have a 2000 Accord V6 Coupe bought new with 7 miles on the clock. Have had none of these issues. I can remember the repairs needed off the top of my head... one wheel bearing, one set of brakes, one set of tires, prophylactic replacement of timing belt at 100K, hoses & drive belts once. Four batteries. One fuel pump. One fuel pump relay. Recently had to clean the driver's seat belt latch to fix an SRS code. Regular maintenance. As to the trans, at 30K miles, I installed a cooler line filter (Magnefine) and for many years did the trans fluid (full change) at 30K but now do just a D&F at 30K. Still has the original exhaust. No, we are not out west... Ohio... but the car gets regular washes (underside too) over the course of the winter. I was once an ASE Certified tech, so I do everything but alignments. I am not an excessive maintainer, either. Car is just ultra reliable, easy to care for and has been a joy to own. We keep saying that we will be buried in the car.

A huge problem with these cars is the main fuel relay. The solder joints crack causing loss of contact when they warm up. They can easily be re-soldered though. The support under the fuel tank is prone to catching rocks/gravel as well, and requires removing the entire rear subframe to access the tank, if something happens to wear a pinhole.

Just a heads up I actually found the reason and how to fix the transmission, it's the thrust washer for 3rd clutch pack on the 5 speeds and 2nd clutch pack for 4 speed. the oil lubrication holes are too small, the updated thrust washer fixes it except for the 4 speed which you will have to ream out larger holes yourself. I filmed a 29 part video explaining how to fix the transmission on my channel, not for the feint of heart though, only hardcore Honda owners will want to try this fix, the ONLY way to fix it. it's on my channel just browse through it

I have a 2000 Accord V-6 that I bought brand new and so far I’ve not had any of these problems as of yet and hope I never do but maybe the reason for that is that my Accord only has 60,000 miles and it’s always parked in the garage. Thanks. I have a 99 Accord, 4 cyl, automatic. Fortunately, I've had none of the 5 problems in this vid. But I had these two problems: the Shut-Off Valve, (Evap leak), replaced once, and the Ignition Starter Switch (car died randomly), which had to be replaced twice. These seemed two very common problems in the Honda 6th gen accord users discussion web site. The car looks pretty new and drives just as when I bought it in 1998. I love this car.

@JustTheTip556
@JustTheTip556 2 жыл бұрын
@@StillLifeHomocide it should. I'm assuming the rebuild you got came with some upgrades. Usually they do. Rebuild kits tend to focus on the weaknesses of the transmission and improving the durability. One thing I would absolutely 100% recommend to you now is to get a transmission oil/fluid cooler. They're decently cheap ($50 or so) and are easy to install. If you pay someone to do the install you're looking at less than an hour, maybe half hour. From what I've heard the transmission oil coolers that look like radiators are best (that's the one I got). They have ones that have tubes running through them but I heard that the ones without the tubes work better. A transmission oil cooler will extend the life of the transmission. Heat usually is what kills transmissions

Very nice clear and concise. Well done. The issue with the paint is that it was not clear coated because they thought it looked better without it. However it is the clear coat that gives UV protection to the ultra thin color coat. So after some time especially cars parked in the hot sun the color coat will flake off exposing the primer below.

I had them sand down those little dings, as well as sand down the old defective paint, as well as paint it Honda's Dark Emerald Pearl, with the proper clearcoat. I had my PS pump up and eat itself about 4 years ago rolling down the Interstate. It started making the usual howl/hum song of imminent failure, and wrecked itself as I was pulling into a McD's for lunch. :D I cut the belt off, and manhandled the steering wheel the rest of the way home. Fun times. :D

The paint issue looks like a clearcoat that’s 1. Bad product 2. Improper prep. If it was bad primer the base coat would be coming off which in these cars that doesn’t happen. Great video! The one thing I would add is Honda’s in general have A/C issues. Later ones it was a relay problem, but it’s super common to see them go through a few AC compressors over the course of 300,000 vs Toyota’s made in Japan that seem to have very little ac issues. Thanks!

The problem with the clear coat deterioration is that the rest of the car lasts two, three or four times longer than most other cars that would have long since been left in the junk yard before any paint problem occurred. I have 378,000+ miles on my original 4-cyl engine and automatic transmission on my 96 Accord. I see many videos on YT about other makes, luxury, midrange and econoboxes heading to the scrap yard at as early as 50k miles needing uneconomical repairs, but have nearly perfect paint.

I’ve had my sixth generation Accord since new and I’ve had all the problems you mentioned except the paint. I drive pretty aggressively so I’ve had four transmissions (she’s right about Honda taking care of it because the last one was replaced at 120,000 miles!) and three motor mounts on the front and one in the rear. Fortunately/unfortunately my windshield was replaced early on because of a crack so I haven’t had a problem with the window seal. Two things you didn’t mention that I found out from my car was the seam sealer under the back windshield at the rear quarter panels leaked water inside of the trunk… I cleaned it, taped it off and resealed it. The other thing was the power Driver seat rocks back-and-forth and it drives me crazy, but it’s pretty common and Honda had a service bulletin that was performed but didn’t work long term. It’s nearing 300,000 miles and still performs fairly well, but it’s tired and wants stuff but I’m not sure if I can justify fixing since it’s worth nothing more than a sentimental value.

aww, My dad had one of these. Always drove me to school in this. It was a MANUAL transmission, and I loved it. I miss it because he sold to his cousin. luckily I still see it sometimes, but I miss it. maybe my favorite Honda from past experience. And yes the paint was horrible on the hood. I remember one time it was new years and I sat on his hood. honestly I have had some amazing memories with this car. He sold it because of the engine problems, then bought a 2014 hyundai elantra, then about a year later bought a 2019 toyota corrola. I love to watch videos about cars that I used to ride in.

With exception to the crappy paint that all hondas of this generation had, all the problems she mentions apply to the V6 model. I had a 2000 EX-L coup 4cyl with manual trans that I bought brand new and put 350,000 miles on it. When I sold it, It still had the factory clutch. These cars are super, super reliable. Very good. Please do this for the four cyl. F23 A is 3/4 of all sixth generation cars. Also has EGR coke issue and idle control valve issues and PCV issues. Explain the universal #2 intake valve chatter during idle. VVT valve solenoid failure, weak door lock actuators, climate control panel power loss, and the water pump seizing is what usually breaks the timing belt. Factory recommended Coolant replacement every other year keeps it lubricated and stops seal wear allowing 100,000 miles between changes. The manual transmission is very reliable, but the standard engine and trans mounts also crack. The tail lights fill with rain water requiring new gaskets siliconed to the housing. ABS brakes have troublesome accumulators. And the front calipers on all the four-cylinder cars have a tendency to hang up and warp the rotors. The anti vibration rubber seal on the caliper pins requires special silicone grease to keep from swelling and binding the rubber. The flex coupling on the front exhaust pipe usually goes around 70,000 or seven years as does the sway bar bushings.
