This is the revised 2019 Audi RS3, it is now compliant with WLTP regulations. Paul Wallace and I soon discover this 2019 car is very similar to the 2017/18 car, but with less sound and character from the exhaust. This model is all new for 2019 and is a UK specific car, named the AUDI RS3 Sports Edition, available in both 5 door Sportback or this 4 door Saloon.

I bought a rs3 saloon launch car.......worried whether or not worth the extra over the S3. Not disappointed.......what a machine and it does the school run.......coolest school run dad LOL

Does the new RS3 come with keyless as standard? Or is it similar to the VW keys? Weird question, but I know there's a lot of concern around keyless access for desirable cars like this....I deliberately left it out of my Golf R spec

Another great vid Joe. Glad you also found it a bit quieter, after a 5am start I wasn't sure I could trust my memories of the old one but I just remember it being annoyingly/embarassingly loud at times (with sports exhaust) which this one wasn't. But, as you say if it's this or no RS3, I'll take this 👍

Unless it's a specific road Audi has asked you to stick to. The next time you're up. Drive the Braemar to Blairgowrie Road via Glenshee "the old military road" its an incredible road and not far from where you were. The Tomintoul road is also great.

It bewilders me why reviewers don’t get the class rival models right on the get go. No doubt it is an M rival, and RS just nail every day which really, M owners are every day drivers too. RS is king of the class for the real world. The m140i is direct comparison to S series of Audi..... good review.

I get it, Nardo Grey is a very nice colour, but why does every RS car I see have to be in that colour? That green RS4 you had as a loaner had a stunning colour

I think people choose that colour as you said its only available on the RS models. Me for example Id want people to know I'm driving the top performance model but also nardo grey with the black rotar wheels to me look nice on the RS3.

As a person who is constantly driving I see so many m2’s around but rarely see an rs3 . Maybe the m2’ is better but the presence of an rs3 you just can’t beat .

The presence of an RS3 is virtually nonexistent, the flat surfaces are so dull but that's typical Audi design.

Hi Joe, always like your reviews, so thanks for all the good work. I may be wrong, but if you go on Audi’s Configurator, you can’t spec the car. I recently went to an Audi Dealership, and was told all S & RS models cannot be ordered from the factory until the end of the year. This would also appear to be a problem with BMW, on some of their hotter models. Is it all linked to Brexit? Apologies in advance, if I’ve got it wrong.

zemekiel yes, thats one of the strengths of the RS lol, RWD is fun, but it is hard to put the power down especially on a UK roads. The only thing for me which I prefer on the M2 is the looks.

Agreed, RS3 for all around driving. The M2 in looks is amazing but RS3, is a better daily for sure. Love both cars though.

zemekiel a good daily for the performance you get. Imo a good daily car, is something you can drive all year round. Where i live the most M2 is garage in the winter months. I would hate to buy a car where I can’t drive it all year round. I can get just over 500km per fill up on the RS3 which is not too bad for the performance you get. The M2 is pretty close to that with my friends car.

I had an S4 for 7 years after owning the E46 M3 for 5 years. When I decided I needed a new car, I test drove this car, the RS3. Then I bought my M2 Competition. Says it all, really.

right lefthook unfortunately not the 2019 rs3s. They’ve been detuned heavily compared to the 2018 rs3s :(

Jordan incorrect! Same engine output but with a slightly different power delivery. Launch seems slightly softer but slightly stronger mid range. I’ve achieved 3.9 secs 0-60 in the wet with full tank of fuel using draggy, other owners 3.6/3.7 so just as quick as the pre a OPF cars.

Mark Richards yeh I understand. I wrote that prior to seeing proper races and comparisons. Carwow have a race showing barely any difference between the opf and non opf. Only thing is the tune ability is slightly lower on the opf cars

Jordan yeah I understand that to but from speaking to developers a tune on the OPF car whilst numbers might be slightly lower it has a real difference due to the power delivery and torque curves as opposed to the pre OPF cars. Both great cars and end of the day it’s an RS3 with that great 5 pot engine. Yes the sound is muted but for me I prefer without the loud pops and bangs and still a nice rich sound with that 5 cylinder warble 👍🏻

Mark Richards that’s quite amazing. I had no idea as I haven’t seen a lot of work with the OPF cars yet. I guess I just haven’t been digging enough info haha. I’ll do some more research. Numbers are much more promising than the S3/Golf r with OPF thats for sure haha. Congrats on your rs3 btw!

Same acceleration figures? The new 2019 seem a lot slower. Reviewers have been testing them and they are losing races against other manufacturers now.

Magnus Nylander Audi took the FL model off the market due to emissions issues I believe. The exhaust has been ‘revised’ so it’s quieter and less crackle pop. They added some kind of filter. Otherwise it’s the same.

Can’t believe that they put you both on the main road that all the tourists are on and during the day when you even have the locals doing 55 mph on B roads , so no chance of really opening it out ,maybe should have sent you out to the Lecht with a good hill climb,great video though👍🏻.

@@JoeAchilles1 I fully agree with you there, that's the only thing I prefer on the Audi. That doesn't change the fact that the EU M2 comp sounds unnecessarily abysmal. How many DB does your Remus have Joe? I'm in the TÜV part of the EU and looking for an exhaust for my Comp and need options.

@@UTubeSL it's a great car and can be a lot of fun when you want it. The back gets nice and lose on the power but never feels out of control. A jb4 tune for around £600 with no other mods will get you close to 400 bhp but i haven't tried that yet.

I test drove both rs3 and m2. Rs3 is fast both from dig and rolling, plus audi somehow got rid of of the understeering quite a lot, so it handles good as well. Sound is amazing. But somehow the steering does not have much feel in it. So i choose the m2 instead. For fun drive,to feel the road and driving, m2 is superior.

I want this car, I will own one, used! It can't put more than 50% to the rear. Their reason for saying 100% has to do with the front wheels having zero grip. This car is one of the only cars available, that size, with that much power and that much luxury. I'm a huge fan.

Spot on, there's a clear difference with (almost) 100% power at the rear by virtue of the permanently connected front axle having no traction, and sending that power to the rear by design...

Stupid from Audi and I say that to the factory. I order my 2018 RS3 Sedan in Sweden since 2017 . I have it now for almost two year . Love it beast awesome car . And sound great and I remember I pay for only RS Exhaust 2000 Dollars optional. And now I will sell it and go for 2020 . Good to know that I will order normal exhaust then and I order other markets. Or M3 Competition 2020 will be Xdrive 🤘

BMWs are unpredictable watch the M135i Jeremy ClarksoknTop gear video spinning out at about 120mph. BMW are unreliable and unpredictable like my E60 520d Timing chain snapping.

Manc Car Guy I don’t need too, firstly I watched it at the time, secondly I have been driving BMW M cars for 15 years, I currently have an F80 M3 so I know exactly how they drive, I also know that given respect, they are much quicker than anything Audi or Mercedes have, thirdly, if you believe that was anything other than Clarkson doing his usual BMW bashing thing, then you are deluded, anyhow it did show one thing which I already stated, they are for those who can drive only, all others should stick to the safely understeery Audi’s!

Manc Car Guy I forgot to mention, all of my cars including the oldest, E39 M5, have been 100% reliable, certainly much more reliable than my brothers S4 Quattro which suffered serious transmission failure.

@@onkouth Mate I was racing an M140i recently in the dry and as soon as we got upto say 60miles an hour and above his car was wiggling its tail and it looked like he may spin out of control at any moment. How can you trust a BMW at higher speeds. It's so unpredictable. You cant really have fun in a car you cant use to it's full potential a lot of the time.

Manc Car Guy there must have been something seriously wrong with it or his driving if it was wiggling around and looking like spinning at 60mph, I’ve never had anything like that happen to me at much greater speeds than that, say 70mph 😂, by the way, you shouldn’t be racing on public roads, it’s dangerous 👍

Small point - it can't send 100% power to either axle, no Haldex system can by design.

Great video but I don't understand the comparisons to an M2 or A45. Bias aside, the RS3 is faster than both and sounds better. Also, with traction off you can have just as much 'fun' as you can in an M2 on most roads.

That's what I'd do. You can pick up a nardo grey 2015 RS3 with decent specs from £32-35k. As soon as a car comes out the factory it has started to lose value and depreciation hits more in the first few years. Things is though someone has to buy a car new otherwise there won't be any cars on the road

Why would anyone pay 51k for this? Would you not be better of buying an older one that sounds better and is more tunable at a fraction of the price???

@@stephenpeacock2627 Im talking a 20176plate one pre-filter. It's basically the same car but half the price and sounds better. We blew my mates Rs3 at 600bhp. Sent a rod through the block. They ain't that strong pal

@@stephenpeacock2627 You guys have it good in the US. Our car Scene is a shadow of its former self here. I can fully imagine these things doing 9 second quarters. Yeah, the pops and bangs thing is pretty daft, the kids love it though.

Rs3 is better then a m2 even the interior bmw insides look like there from the 1990s and you can put you power down all the time m2 if the roads are a little wet 70percent power
