My mom had a silver convertible automatic and I had a red hard top 5 speed as my first car. So many memories!

I had one of these when they came out in the early 80's and loved it. Wish I could get my hands on one as good as that. Mine was metallic red with a cream interior and cost just over £5,000 in 82.

This was the second car that I ever bought in 1991. Mine was a mint 5 speed manual in metallic silver with grey interior. The on/off switch on this must have been fitted to replace the original one in the radio set. The C. B. radio was not standard also. Fortunately in 1997 my Wife, Daughter and Mother in law escaped injury after being t-boned at an intersection....The young lady driving the other car fled the scene of the accident. My beloved Prelude however was a write off. I miss that sporty little car.....

This is a car you don't often see on the road. I think this one was more attractive than the more boxy second gen. My favorite Prelude is third gen, but I'd love to resto-mod one of these. Monochrome paint, blacked out chrome and modern wheels, maybe coilovers too. I'd swap a B series in it and maybe even try to fit a newer prelude dash and seats. Than again, maybe a classic like this should be kept original since there aren't many around.

My first car as a dark blue 1981 Prelude. Dad bought it for me in 1986. It was a good runner but unfortunately the metal it was built with was so poor, the money I spent in rust repairs kept me broke! As far as I know, the only colors sold in the US was blue, maroon, silver and gold. I once saw a white one but I think someone repainted it. I kept the gear shift knob as a memento!
@bubbadetails.36172 жыл бұрын
I don't know if this car was resprayed or not! The owners before me had it for 25 years and looked after it like a baby. I didn't have to repair any rust while I owned it. I miss it!

I notice a slight whistling sound with the hood up ... also the exhaust sounds old ..... Is there a way to remedy this ? Ive heard most late 70s hondas sound like that and always wondered if it could be changed. The exhaust almost sounds like a miss almost, but its just how it sounds. awesome lil car.

This car was a rip off compared to the Accord which had the same mechanicals but with a hatch and fold down rear seat which could actually accommodate passengers. And you could of course also get the sedan which was also cheaper.
