Mine just started doing the major swing after I put another water pump in. Now I got the MRD fail safe thermostat and I’m about to see how the temp looks afterwards

FYI 1:04 those pins are called jiggle valves

The 12 valve wants to run at 180 degrees and it will swing like that normally.

Looks like he blew pressure into the radiator causing the fluid to begin flowing. Then he let it siphon, smart move.

Nice video. I have a 1995 2500 5.9 12v. The temp swing is normal. Still has original t stat.

Did you ever figure out how to get it to run cooler? Did you do anything else to it after this video?

Yeah, after installation of the 47RH I built up, it runs rock steady at half. I believe the heat exchanger was being overworked. That said, I have an aluminum rad that's going in as well. Thanks for subscribing!!

Any updates? Mine swings like that (a little colder than yours..) as well. I don't want to do a thermostat for nothing.

No gasket maker or anything on the thermostat housing? Just metal on metal?

Yeah after I swapped to a rad without any pinholes in it. I think the cooling system didn't have steady pressure.
