I know the exact day that my L5 S1 herniated it’s been 11 years six months I have been stretching and stretching and stretching. I’ve done every one of these exercises that you’re doing and they’re all a very very temporary fix. They don’t actually solve pain issues for more than 15-20 minutes. I developed some exercises not stretching exercises that strengthen. The area around the piriformis and the entire pelvis since beginning these exercises about eight months ago I’m getting my life back stretching will not give you your life back. If you have serious, chronic pain, I appreciate the video but for people who are in hard-core pain strengthening the entire pelvic girdle is the actual remedy. Best wishes to all.

I’ve had these in my bag of stretches for years. Lately though conventional stretching isn’t getting rid of my low back pain. It feels like it’s coming from ultra-tight hamstrings and gluteus minimus, possibly hip flexors. It gets so bad that I can see one side of my hips in the mirror way higher than the other. If I take 3-4 days off from the gym it usually starts to fix itself.

Maybe the muscles are also weak? Maybe try out pilates?

@@Stephanie-xz7qd you’re probably right. The last 20 years I’ve done tons of Infantry PT, 5 days a week, which includes lots of running and agility. Now I’m retired and am doing strictly bodybuilding style lifting mostly. Maybe go back to doing some agility stuff a couple days a week?🤷🏼‍♂️

No, gotta strengthen it even then the pain doesn’t go completely away only managed

@@Alacard0malley good news, you can achieve up to 80% or more in pain relief if you follow a good stretching and strengthening routine. 👍🏼

What does it mean if doing the first stretch causes pain to worsen? Everyone always recommends that stretch, but it causes pain

It could be that your muscles are incredibly tight, so what happens is that they fight back against the added pressure. If it’s too much I’d suggest to first do something easier.

Any recommendations on what to do with a fused leg? I can't get an equal stretch on the left side since my left leg is fused (for almost a year now).

like everything when it comes to the body there is NOT a recipe.. HOW you execute the exercise or stretch is key... these are very simple and well hmmm "old fashioned" they will not address EVERYONE"s lower back. Pease if you do these or any other exercise/ stretch listen to your body and where you feel them. Joint centring is key,.
