Day 1 of a few camping trip with my friend Denis. Denis is also a Suzuki Jimny owner who enjoys camping and photography. This is why some of the video looks different (better) to my normal videos. Denis kindly shot most of this video on his flashy Sony camera. I took some shots on my iPhone as normal, you can probably notice which parts :)
On day 2 we headed to Kielder forest with the hope of capturing an awesome photograph of The Milky Way. Unfortunately, all we captured was a thousand midge bites! Hi mate! Try keeping the car in gear for the 4WD shift operation. You should have positive engagement doing that with engine running and clutch fully depressed. Don't have your foot on the brake if you can help it, this will let thigns move slightly should they need to. Also - and I know this is obvious - but you need to press down on the knob between 4L and 4H, but DO NOT press down between 4H and 2H. Cheers!

Thanks mate. I’ve got the automatic gearbox. Manual says to press down to and be in neutral for 4L. I do that and the green 4WD lights up on the dash fine. It’s not until you put it In Drive that it goes nuts lol. Not every time though ☺️.

Great video as always! When I first got the Jimny and tried to engage the 4L, I did not engage it properly either. I was worried sick!

😆 I’ve done it a few times. Chatting with a few owners on Instagram and thankfully we’re not alone. I think the 4WD light coming on regardless is a big factor in the error 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’m thinking… it’s in right?…. Nope haha

I think midweek is your best bet buddy. 3A is class you’re right. I like the ones deeper in the woods so there’s less tariff noise but it’s nice having the outlook over the fields too. So often difficult to choose :)

Hey guys great video 👍 I’m looking at buying a Jimney shortly and wanted to know if the roof top tent is made specifically for the Jimney ? I live in Australia. We have different Roof top tents here to purchase but they are very heavy Cheers

Hi, it’s not specifically for a jimny but we did buy the lightest weight RTT we could. The heavy ones don’t work well on a jimny unfortunately. Those ones are from Front Runner. I’ve actually recently sold mine to help fund a self build project to make an ultra lightweight roof tent. So yeah that will arguably be made specifically for a jimny, just not available to buy. I do expect to release the build plans and parts list though. Just need to make sure it works well first :)

Re; the noise - you're just not pushing the lever all the way back, so the gears in the transmission are not aligning properly. Give it a hard push, mate :) Great vid!

Is that all it is mate? It’s weird as the light comes on and there’s a nice clunk but I put it in drive and all hell breaks loose. I’ll push harder next time. It’s only happened a few times to be fair but awful when it does 😂👍

@@GeordieJimny that what happens when you mix electric and mechanic parts :) the sensor (or whatever it is called) gives a signal that it is on. It happens somewhere along the way of the lever but not exactly at its final position. Still the gears are not quite aligned yet and are a little bit far away from each other. Hence the sound when you are switching to drive. Just push that mf as hard as it deserves :)) after all you are driving a hardcore offroader :)

They’re black medical gloves I use when leather crafting. My finger nail was half hanging off so even though I wasn’t touching any food as it was all prepared in advance I thought they’d be a good idea :) I saw Marco from trailrecon’s videos wearing them. Great idea when not solo camping 👍 Where I got them… if I recall it was Amazon

Hello, thank you for this video. I think about color of Jimny I am going to buy. Do you have issues with black one? I mean it has to be very hot under sun, and perhaps it requires extra cleaning due to dust, dirt and other traces.

Hi Nick, yes it’s difficult to keep clean. I got mine ceramic coated which helped a bit. The paint on these cars is very soft in my opinion and the black scratches extremely easily.

If you're going OffRoad, silver, grey, white are colours you want if you care about scratches. Black cars are always dirty.

@@odys3803 yea, I thought this way. I have only two color available black and those kiwi-green Jimny original, otherwise it is gonna be Happy new year gift at best. So I perhaps will go with kiwi

@@GeordieJimny have you tried to cover it with antigravelly coating? I heared they reflect dust as well as possibility to scratch it, you have to push very hard to damage it

¡Gracias! Me complace que te gusten. Mi elección de música depende de mi estado de ánimo ese día. Definitivamente tengo un gusto musical ecléctico, pero la mayoría de las veces me gusta escuchar un audiolibro mientras conduzco. ¿Qué prefieres escuchar también?
