How can we help someone overcome their panic disorder?
Ajahn Brahm tells how he helped someone with a panic disorder to overcome it. First of all we have to understand how the fear and panic feels in our body, as these emotional disorders have a corresponding physical feeling in the body.
Once we know exactly where it is in our body and how it feels when we are having a panic attack, then we can start to work with it. After having increased mindfulness, we add the secret ingredient of kindness and gently massage that area.
As you use kindfulness (mindfulness & kindness) you will notice that the physical feeling will get less and less and then eventually disappear. Which is great, but even better is the fact that the mental aspect of it goes as well.
Once you know this from your own experience, then you will know what to do.
