Maybe Matt Lowne could collaborate and do a Blunderbirds rescue mission for Bill Kerman. This would be unique because usually the Kerbals he save have a rocket on the surface with not enough Delta-V, broken parts, or other issues. This could be a great opportunity for unique missions like an air rescue mission with a helicopter basket and that turns into a rocket/spaceplane at high altitudes. Just some food for thought.

@@moartems5076 you're a genius we should just return astronauts from space on paper airplanes
@facepalm7345
@facepalm7345 3 жыл бұрын
@@plvmbvm513 the problem is the cubed law, as you increase surface area you increase volume exponentially. The surface area of a paper airplane is going to have to burn through the energy of all the mass behind it, also it has poor thermal conductivity so the heat built up wont have anywhere to go and be more likely to create a hot spot which in turn would cause a failure faster. A parachute would work better, with the astronaut lowered slightly in orbit from ejecting his spacecraft and just barely skimming the atmosphere, a very large parachute with probably a balloon skeleton to keep it wide open, something large enough to scrap enough energy off quickly enough that you aren't dropper into thicker atmosphere at a high speed. A secondary and tertiary backup parachutes for landing would also be needed, but the weight of the EVA suit would mean they're likely to suffer injury unless landing in the water, though that may pose it's own problems.

I recommend that you go to Tylo and back, but you cannot land on Tylo with any parts you took off with and you can't land on Kerbin with any parts you took off Tylo with unless the parts were never taken out of a container before. You'd have to assemble three crafts with only the parts that you brought in boxes, which might be an interesting challenge. Like if you agree!

You could try a minimalist mission using the Outer Planets Mod. All the planets either have lots of moons (Sarnus and Urlum) or are incredibly far away (Neidon and Plock). You could also try Alternis Kerbol, a planet pack that re-arranges the orbits and sizes of the stock planets. (Kerbin is now a moon of Jool, Tylo has ~37m/s surface gravity and Eve is moonless, albeit with cool rings).

@DibzNr2234
@DibzNr2234 3 жыл бұрын
A Kerbal with the new EVA canisters has a total delta v of about 960m/s, giving the craft an effective delta v of 2004 m/s from LKO with the twin boar + EVA pack, this is enough for a one way mission to: The Mun Minmus (You can actually get back to Kerbin but without a parachute you won't be able to land) Gilly Ike Duna (Technically, again with the return from Minmus you lack a parachute and thus won't be able to land) Eve (Again through you don't have a parachute) And you can do flybys of: Dres Jool Moho Perhaps using gravity assists you could capture into Jool orbit but you won't have enough fuel to land anywhere Moreover these values don't account for the fact that you can fully refill your EVA pack by getting back into the command pod, technically you could go anywhere by getting out and pushing but that feels kinda cheaty

I have 2 suggestions for minimalist missions: 1) Get to kerbin orbit using the minimum amount of deltav (Leads to an interesting ascent profile. Very toasty.) 2) I heard someone is stranded on Eve, after budget cuts meant that their craft was only allowed to include 2 parts. Maybe do something about it? Without using too many parts. Wouldn't want to waste Kredits.
