I there is one thing I learned is that good etiquette always earned you respect in the pack. We all surf to have fun not to get in fights. First drop should have known better. Rider was on the wave for a long time and should not have dropped. Good job on getting by him, although he could have just kicked out and let it go. Second wave, she was a new learner and looked glad to just get on. He had been on for super long time and should have just let her go. To me, he was just showing off by going around. You need to remember that we were all new learners at one time and letting those guys have waves is just a way of saying ALOHA! Respect others and they will respect you! Uncles, teach the young. You don't need to show that you're good, people will see by what you do and just know!

Ive been to a couple of surf scools but only for short lessons when I began. They never thaught anything about lineups or positionings lol. Probably need a week long surf camp to get all that information or just common sense and interest. As a beginner its really hard. Longboards suck to get out in the lineup and shortboards aren‘t easy as well. So most beginners just go out and chill somewhere in the impact zone to ride on the white water or the waves that rarely come through unbroken. The girl that dropped in on him was already kinda far in and got a nice wave instead of white wash.

@@superorangeish that guy has serious skills and just surfed around those 2. Probably he's used to behavior like that. You could well be right about if it had been a guy on the long board. Theres only limited good breaks, especially for beginners its really hard to find good waves. They lack knowledge and fitness, so going out alone and looking for a place without people could go wrong very fast. Everybody should try there best and poay by the rules but you need to give some people a little bit of slack. Most people don‘t even wanna surf anymore because its almost impossible to find a wave that is safe and there are so many people that get offended very easily so you can only concentrate on getting out of the way lol.

I hate to say it, but there ARE some young women who do this on purpose as a strategy to ride more waves. They not only do it to guys, they do it to older female surfers who are more modestly attired! Some of us have seen a pattern of behavior in this. It's not cool at all, and it gives all women surfers a bad rap. Time to call them out on this. Wear what you want, but please be courteous and follow the rules of safety and etiquette. (Also, please take the blinders off and don't spin around immediately to go for the very next wave when you have just paddled back to a crowded lineup.)

I wish everyone would think like you do. Its incredlibly hard for beginners and most of the time it‘s an accident. Not neccessary to put a debate on youtube over two drop ins. I know anlot of people that love skateboarding and snowboarding to death and surfing too but dont get a lot of time in the ocean. Some of them wont even get a board and try to get out anymore because its so ruled by the better surfers that get angry so quickly. Its intimmidating. The whole comunnity seems to get more exclusive all the time but there are beginners who really want to learn and have a lot of fun. Not like the basic tourists that rent boards for 2 hours and kill time but have no real interest at all.
@surfreadjumpsleep
@surfreadjumpsleep Жыл бұрын
@@FFeliXX12 Yes it takes a lot of time and dedication I found. Sort of have to rearrange your life around it a bit. Unless you're lucky enough to be living next to a surf spot you have to go to that surf spot and it's better if it's one that is not so popular. When it becomes very competitive one thing that can help sometimes is you let the guys compete and go deeper and deeper into the wave. Then when they catch it they really can't even get out of there they end up getting closed out on. And so you take the wave a little further down and then just check to look back and see if they actually caught the wave if they did then get off if not then continue And often they didn't catch it and the wave is yours. But some real psychopaths even get angry when you do this so everywhere is different. When traveling it's best to go for offseason because it's way less crowded and there can still be waves but if you're taking the trip and then this is dicey because you may go there and there may be no waves the whole time you're there. I remember surfing in Santa Cruz where I waited until the sun went down and then went surfing so I could not even see the waves really but caught an amazing ride with the moon in front of me. This was on a longboard at cowells. Just stick at it and enjoy... You'll get there

The most respectful thing to do would've been to board-lift that chick 😄

So if you want to drop in without consequences, wear a bikini? I can't see me getting away with that. 😀

Pros need to remember they will get to surf all the best breaks around the world when they are closed to the public.... a little recognition of this wouldn't hurt them... But I guess you get pro level pros and then the rest of the entitled wannabes, only so many KS and MF around. But yeah drops in are not good, but pros should be mindful of learners a bit more.
