I love knitting both socks at same time for all reasons you gave. I learned to always knit the stitches with the needle they are on i.e. I pull the sts to right and knit with the tail end. When one half is finished I turn work and proceed as before. At the end of each half a row my needles are straight, one holding both insteps and the other holding back of both. I never have an empty needle. But - to each his own! 😀

I have knit several pairs of TAAT socks on 2 circulars. It's my favorite way to knit socks but I have some issues with directionality and I could never get either the cast-on correctly on the needles or work the heels in the correct order. I always ended up with one of the working yarns on the wrong end and had to move the stitches to DPNs to correct that and then move those stitches back to the circulars. Thank you for being so clear about what goes where and when. I've needed this video for years!

@Melatina77 No, you could still use this technique, even if you're knitting a left and a right mitten. But most mitten patterns (like mine) don't have a L and R. They are exactly the same and interchangeable between the two hands.

@KEEN30 Yes - Addi Click Needles are just like Addi Turbos, except the whole interchangeable cord part. I have one of the first sets of Clicks that came out, and there is one slight difference with the older ones - the needle tips are about an inch longer than the fixed needles. But I believe that the newer Click sets have slightly shorter needle tips. Either way, they're all really nice needles, and my favorite.

My favorite needles are Addis - both Addi Turbos, and Addi Clicks (an interchangeable needle set). The cords are just flexible enough, and the join between the cord and the needle is super smooth, and never catches the yarn. I highly recommend these needles!

@tubasoldier3 Took me a minute to get my mind around that, but yes, I think it would work. The issue I see with this is that there would be potential for substantial gaps in the socks between the needles, as one needle would always be loose and hanging on the work. Other than that, I believe the method would work.

It looks to me as if you could substitute for the temporary extra set of rounds a couple of double points. I hope that works because I don't have two sets of size 5 and it would be nice to keep the size the same even though it would only be case on round that would have different sizes and wouldn't make any difference. The cast on is kind of difficult to follow but with a little pausing and diagramming I think I'll make head and tails of it. Excellent video!

Yes - you can use one long circular for this technique if you like. Since you've already knit sleeves this way, the process should be simple for you...but the cast-on will be a bit trickier. You may need to use an extra needle or stitch holder to help get your CO in place. Good luck!

I am learning the two a time with two circulars method. I Thus far I have knitted about 2.5 inches on one side which always seems to be on the correct orientation and knittable of a 2k, 2P cable. i.e., The wrists for a pair of fingerless gloves... The first time I got turned around I found my way... Now I have been struggling to find my way back without success. I keep knitting the same side and unable to get back to the correct orientation for the second wrist.
@verypinkknits
@verypinkknits 13 жыл бұрын
@khamil731 You can do that, but it's just asking for trouble. :) The yarn is twisted in one direction all the way through the skein, and if you pull from both ends, you're likely to end up with a very tangled mess before you get very far.

Thanks for wonderful tutorials. I wish you'd used 2 balls of diff colors but I managed to keep up. I'm stopping to practice on both DPNs & 2 needles at a time up to the heel flap. Then I'll come back and pick up @ heel turnsl. I HAVE to learn on DPNs also, but sure I probably won't go back to DPNs after I get used to using 2 needles (laugh). The notes and illustrations I made for myself, I use two different color ink pens. So that takes the place of you using 2 diff color balls.

I'm about to start this pattern so of course I am previewing the video so I know what to do. I have never done socks on 2 needles though I figured you would knit the stitches on 1 needle back on that same needle and same with other cable needle, though I saw you completely knit them off one of them when you started. I am all confused now! Do you then completely knit them off the other one and work around like that?
