This is the one I want to get through Home Depot. You can get them with cute windows, window boxes, shutters. I want to make it into a guest house. Love it. I thought the loft would have a straight ladder and would be hard to get into, but it is not at all.

Very cute & great view.. I want one but need a 18×24 dimension & one dormer up top in what would be a bedroom, for additional light & to add a bit of character on the outside.. & full bath upstairs.. kitchen & living downstairs.. wish me luck 🤞

If you notice, almost all of the sheds are NOT built to a living code. All the windows come framed without jacks and cripples. The windows will eventually sag and leak from weight. 2X4's are thirty plus years behind in being able to get efficient insulation. The floor joists should be 2X12 upstairs if you're going to have a little stove or refrigerator etc. I've seen the Home Depot models sag on the lot. Never do a job twice. Do your research and do it right the first time. For the price of a couple of beams, it's worth it.

Yepp i agree! I think i would order it with a moister barrier like tyvek and a foam insolated floor and i would do the rest reinforce the roof and walls and corner studs then interior walls out of wood and isolate ofcourse ! That would make a very cool cabin for sure!

There's more than likely a local manufacturer near your home. There's a place just up the highway from my home that sells these. There's one in each of the cities to the east and west of me. You've probably driven past one and didn't even realize it. If you go to Home Depot, they usually have contractors that do this sort of thing all over the country, though it's a little more pricy through Home Depot.

Nice. Just need some insulation, drywall, heat, air, electric and water and your set with a little house. I don't recommend it being on the slope like that as a heavy rain may wash it down as it did my dads shed. They need to be on a flat surface for sure, not leveled out with brick blocks.

I've got my eye on the 16 by 32 Richmond but I wonder how much weight the second story can handle? The second story for the 16 by 32 similar to the one in the video has a 7" ceiling. Both the first floor ceiling and second story ceiling (roof) has 2 by 6 beams but the exterior walls are 2 by 4 and I wonder if the second story could handle things such as a second story bathroom (tub/shower set). I'd like to build an upstairs bathroom and have my super single waterbed up there but I worry about the weight. I drew out a great floor plan but it will only function properly if I know the 2 by 4 exterior walls will hold the weight for the second story. Anyone know what load those types of walls can handle?
@rogermurph1017 жыл бұрын
Exterior walls on two story houses are made with 2x4's. The length of the span the 2x6's run is what you need to be concerned about.
@gypsydragongal7 жыл бұрын
The length of the 2 by 6 roof timbers are 16 feet across.

I would move the stairs to the corner and have a dog leg up stairs so that I could open that loft window in the stair well and use the space below as drawers on the lower level and closets under the upper string. It also saves the wasted space upstairs and over the stairs. Then when you arrive at the top of the stairs you can stand up straight.

hmmm I think he means the gambrel trusses were 24"OC - which you can tell on the walk up the stairs as compared to the wall studs. I was wondering myself whether I'd go 16 or 24 for the spacing - and noticed you went with 2x6 for the trusses rather than just 2x4's. Looks good though - thx for posting.

My shed is right on the borderline - no permit. 12 x 16, but it is an actual 12 x 16 INSIDE Measurements. The tin on the outside - oops, a bit shy but corner covers covered my novice didn't know. Outside is exactly 4" wider and longer. And I put in a loft cause i made the roof a 12 12 pitch - ez rafters. but, it would be all liveable space ez enough.
