Kickin' it old school this time! Our standard was set last time around, now it's time for comparison! The first challenger up is X58's legendary Xeon X5687, a colossus from 2011 that originally hit the market at over $1600. How has time treated this once-mighty CPU? Is it worth buying for a build now? Most importantly...Does It Game?!

Wow. You really can squeeze a lot outta these ancient chips. Im trying to get into flipping ultra-budget old systems. I've started w a 2680v4, and a 2650v4 mogul and machinist combo. Only $58 and $44 respectively. And for the 2650 a kinda trashy lookin rx 580 i got for $56. Do you figure id get $275 for a 2650v4 rx 580 build in your local market?

I’ll be honest, I’ve REALLY struggled with moving budget systems with RX 400/500 cards lately. I just last week had to sell one with a 2650 v4 and RX 470 (4GB) for $200, after being listed for over a week at $240; I had a 1240 v6 + 1050Ti combo sell quicker at the same $240 list price. Buuuut it was also in an HP Z440 chassis, so it didn’t stand out in any way. If it’s an 8GB RX 580, and a Machinist combo in a case with a glass/acrylic side panel, you could probably fetch that here.

@doesitgame thanks! Yea I had a feeling it was gonna be a bit of a struggle these days, but i do see great prices on local parts, and not a lotta pc listings sitting around with killer price to performance. Yesterday I got a crazy deal on a massive corsair full tower case w noctua and corsair fans, and the big 12 pipe noctua cooler, $20 for them both. Do you think it's misleading, or perhaps just wasteful to use such attractive (yet modestly appearing) parts on a 2680?
