Protip, hang a bucket of water over the front of the sawhorse to provide the mass. Very handy when washing the bike aswel

a cracking video Shane, a super cheap alternative to a very expensive item. being a joiner (carpenter in the rest of the world) my OCD was going of the charts watching you cut that with a hacksaw but I suppose needs must lol cheers for the tips and keep these videos coming buddy

I made this tonight, $17.50 for the Saw Horse, $4.20 for the screws and brackets and 10 minutes of my time. I had an old 1kg dumbbell weight lying around and have it hanging from the front, plenty stable. Thanks for posting this, it works a treat.

Made one very similar to this a few years ago using the exact same saw horse. But instead i used a piece of timber screwed on the top as a support to raise the bottom bracket off the stand and lift the rear wheel clear. this also allowed me to position the front wheel mount further forward and make the stand more stable. I use a hole saw to cut a hole in the timber then cut across the hole to make a nice round slot for the BB to sit in. I also used a front fork mount I had instead of a spare hub. Plans were to route out a slot for the fork mount to bolt to to make it adjustable to different sized frames
@stephenvowles1326
@stephenvowles1326 4 жыл бұрын
Rather than using the hub mounted on top with brackets I have a setup that just uses the axle going through the timber and locked in place using the hub cones. I lowered the front fork support by attaching additional timber below the existing one. I am using a simple diy all timber sawhorse and with the front forks dropped lower the bike CG is now centered well between the legs of the sawhorse.

from the stability point of view I would replace the leg as far to end of the board as possible and then I would make BB sitting in the middle of the board as there is largest weight, but Im not sure if it would fit due to cranks
@lobo241us
@lobo241us 7 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Push the legs out for stability and mount the hub closer to the front edge of the board. That stand looks very unstable.

well sir,thanks to you I just conceived an idea for a bike stand at 4 in the morning. The base and the legs will off course be wood and I'll be copying the PRS-22 team issue stand more or less to affix the frame to the stand My road frame has cables running underneath the down tube and under the bottom bracket so I can't just rest the frame like you did,luckily my friend is building a 3d printer and I can get my hands on short sections of aluminium extrusion(20×20Tslot) to hack together a contraption similar to the PRS-22 to place the bottom bracket. As for the front more or less the same setup as the park tool stand except I'll have to manage to fit my mtb's fork and my roadie fork too in the same fixture. I'll definitely make a video about it ☺

Looks pretty cool, replicated my park tool stand pretty much lol. The only issue I see is if you have a bike with a shorter distance from the fork to the bottom bracket you might run into issues with pedal clearance, but if you know that's not going to be an issue it's great.
@mattjacomos2795

I got a real short frame, the wheels are less than 10mm from the frame, the trick is to line the bottom bracket up with the end of the sawhorse to set the position you mount the front hub. I used a Yakima brand roof rack mount. It is somewhat unstable and needs a balance weight at the front for these short bikes. I moved BOTH leg sets forward too... Made mine today...
