I just restored a 20" Clausing from 1956 and have the same issue. Thanks for sharing this solution! Time to build one of my own

I really identify with the problem solving and fabrication skill set of a talented machinist. I’m in a completely different line of work but need to apply the same kind of thinking. The set up is great - hope to see it in action when you work on the shaper!

Sweet! Love the clamping handle on the 618 tailstock... may do something similar on mine. X-Y tables make it so much easier to use the drill press.

I want to replace the odd shaped table I've got on my Porter Cable press with one like that. I've not looked into it much yet. If anyone has a source for something like this, pls. let me know. I'll check the parts list for the make/model you provided. Thanks for posting.
